We are seeking a **Cook III Catering/Gourmet** at Medical Center Lewisville ensure that we continue to provide all patients with high quality, efficient care. The Cook III Catering/Gourmet position is responsible for assisting in the preparation, delivery, and setup of catering functions. Works as relief cook and food prep as needed. The Cook III assists Chef, as needed. In this role, the Cook III Catering/Gourmet:

* Serve as a resource to department staff, students, volunteers and other departments, and contribute to the teamwork essential to ensuring quality patient care.

* Take appropriate measures to ensure safety of staff and patients.

* Participate in hospital or departmental performance improvement activities.

* Communicate directly with chef regarding proposed menus and assignments.

* Is responsible for scheduling work hours to accommodate all functions.

* Work mainly Monday through Friday, but will also be responsible for preparing foods for all weekend functions.

* Will be expected to work some weekends when required of functions.

* Assist with the preparation of miscellaneous food items.

* Rotate preparing hot and cold foods; rotate as grill cook.

* When filling in for Culinary Manager must observe other cooks to ensure sanitation and good food handling practices are being followed.

* Review catering schedule, and determine timeline, and prepare food when Culinary Manager is not available.

* Make recommendations to director and chef regarding needed supplies.

* Assist chef with action bars and other duties as needed.

**Qualifications**

* One year cooking experience in a food service operation

* Ability to read and write English.

* Perform simple math.

* Good interpersonal/communication skills.

* Able to work independently and prioritize responsibilities.

* Knowledge of food safety and sanitation required.

* Basic cooking knowledge.

* Minor customer service experience. Be polite and tactful.

* Experience cooking on a grill and/or griddle.

* Experience in cold food preparation (salads, sandwiches, etc.).

* Must have neat and clean appearance
