Founders First Capital Partn is Hiring a Portfolio Management Specialist (Part-Time) Near San Diego, CA

About Us: Founders First Capital Partners, Inc provides funding and business growth advisory support to diverse founder led small businesses. We provide revenue-based funding and business acceleration support to service-based small businesses located outside of major capital markets such as Silicon Valley and New York City. We focus on supporting businesses led by women, people of color, and military veterans, LGBTQ , inclusive teams and businesses located in low to moderate-income areas.

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Portfolio Management Specialist to join our team on a part-time basis, up to 30 hours per week. The Portfolio Management Specialist will play a crucial role in managing our portfolio of investments and ensuring the success of our client companies. This individual will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on the performance of our portfolio companies, identifying opportunities for growth and improvement, and providing strategic guidance and support.

Compensation: $28-$35 per hour

Physical Setting: Onsite at San Diego Office Tuesday-Thursday; remote work Mondays and Fridays 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Portfolio Monitoring: Monitor the performance of our portfolio companies, including financial metrics, operational performance, and market trends.
  2. Risk Management: Identify and assess risks associated with portfolio companies and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
  3. Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis and modeling to evaluate the financial health and performance of portfolio companies.
  4. Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with portfolio company management teams to understand their needs and provide support as needed.
  5. Reporting: Prepare regular reports and updates on portfolio performance for internal stakeholders and investors.
  6. Late Payments: Track and calculate all late payments at the loan level by borrower.
  7. Documentation: Ensure all the necessary documents for each loan have been collected and are stored in the appropriate place.
  8. Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams, including investment professionals and legal/compliance teams, to ensure effective portfolio management and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  9. Continuous Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve portfolio management processes, policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in accounting, economics, finance, business, or a related field.
  2. 2 years of experience in portfolio management, underwriting, small business funding relationship management, banking, consulting, or a related field, preferably in the financial services industry.
  3. Strong financial analysis and modeling skills, with a solid understanding of financial statements and valuation techniques.
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  5. Proven ability to think strategically and provide actionable insights and recommendations.
  6. Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other financial analysis tools.
