COMPENSATION: $75,000-$95,000 depending on experience; eligible for performance bonus, housing available

HOURS PER WEEK: Varies – Full Time

DAYS REQUIRED: Weekdays, Weekends, Holidays

Hemlock Neversink is set on the historic site of the former New Age Health Spa. The 230 acre campus is serene, naturally beautiful and filled with woodsy paths, secluded nooks, hiking trails, and streams. Hemlock features the region’s most complete wellness facility, with 12 treatment rooms, a full service spa, indoor pool, hot tub, sauna, and steam room. Plus a movement & fitness center featuring premium crafted equipment, yoga spaces, studio fitness, and more.

Kenoza Hall was originally utilized as a summer retreat in the early 1900s, this 55 acre property features 32 guest rooms, across the Main Inn and standalone Bungalows. The property offers a fine dining experience by Foster Supply Hospitality’s award-winning culinary team, outdoor lake-view seating and a full bar, multiple common areas and full service spa. Hemlock Spa at Kenoza Hall extends the property’s unique brand of “earthy luxury” with offerings such as a daily “morgen lauf” (morning walk), to the purposeful analog experience that balances technology with omission of overstimulation, and Kneipp-inspired body treatments, an ode to the area’s early Swiss and German settlers.

The Director of Spa & Fitness will oversee all spa and fitness activities at both Hemlock Spa locations, with the majority of their time devoted to Hemlock Neversink. They will be responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the spa and fitness facilities, team members and guest satisfaction while maintaining the financial health of the business and promoting opportunities to increase revenue, customer service levels, and team member morale.

The Director of Spa & Fitness will ensure the delivery of spa services with the highest level of guest comfort while maintaining service levels and treatment protocols. Functions include responsibility for developing, interpreting and recommending programs that assist Foster Supply Hospitality (FSH) with strategic goals and objectives in accordance with the Hemlock Spas’ mission, vision, and values.

What You’ll Do:

  • Be an active, engaged member of the FSH Leadership Team, setting an example in striving for operational excellence, being committed to attention to detail, and instilling discipline;
  • Responsible for coordination and administration, directly or indirectly, of Hemlock Neversink and Hemlock Spa at Kenoza Hall’s spa and fitness facilities and offerings;
  • Oversee and otherwise coordinate: employment, employee relations, training, financial forecasts/budgets/capital expenditures and analysis, facility utilization, staff productivity, legal & licensing compliance, operations development, monitoring of all facets of the operation, department meetings, standards, promotions, approval of all purchase orders, maintaining vendor relationships, conduct staff reviews, development of menu of services and specials, knowledge and understanding of treatments/physiological effects/contraindications, resolution of guest satisfaction issues, Company and department standards, staff appearance standards, merchandising of retail products, administration of computer operations.
  • Guide Management/Team Members to accomplish efficient scheduling to ensure appropriate staffing levels according to business volumes; i.e. special events, holidays, weekends, groups, etc.;
  • Develop an operational knowledge of spa/wellness management software;
  • Develop, implement and monitor short and long-term strategies designed to increase revenue, profitability, retail sales, guest satisfaction, Team Member satisfaction and Team Member retention rates;
  • Conduct analysis and evaluations of effectiveness of Hemlock Neversink and Hemlock Spa at Kenoza Hall initiatives to ensure program measurements, goals and objectives are successfully achieved;
  • Act as a resource between Team Members and Foster Supply Hospitality management to resolve work related conflicts through advice and mediation. Reviews and determines appropriate resolution ensuring policy and procedures are consistently followed;
  • Prepare forecast to project staffing needs and maintain proper staffing levels to meet guest demand and profit goals;
  • Oversee the analysis, maintenance, and communication of records and licenses required by law, or local governing bodies;
  • Oversee retail ordering, stocking, and sales and ensures all stock inventories are accurately accounted for;
  • Consult with Foster Supply Hospitality offices and appropriate legal council to ensure that policy and procedures comply with local, Federal and State laws, rules, and regulations;
  • Develop and maintain Team Member appraisal/evaluation guidelines and time frames for appraisal for all Team Members in partnership with the Director of HR;
  • Develop appropriate Wellness related classes and training modules;
  • Coordinate and develop ongoing guest education seminars and workshops;
  • Oversee outdoor fitness activities for guests and ensure proper working order for all equipment and facilities.
  • Facilitate various training modules pertaining to Hemlock Neversink and Hemlock Spa at Kenoza Hall services and programs;
  • Provide support and communicate with all levels of management and supervisors regarding policies and procedures acting as a liaison between Spa, Fitness, and Resort;
  • Generate and deliver reports and presentations to the VP of Operations and Foster Supply Hospitality regarding Hemlock Neversink and Hemlock Spa at Kenoza Hall information such as policies and procedures;
  • Inform appropriate management of any potential situation that may require further attention, including, but not limited to: safety issues and concerns, OSHA compliance, ADA compliance, Equal Employment, legal compliance, sexual harassment including Team Members and guests. Follow up to ensure resolution is achieved;
  • Develop, train, and communicate relevant Company information to Team, as well as direct performance of clerical functions by ensuring a strong communication network, in which team is well informed of all procedural changes, property information and department and company initiatives;
  • Assist in development and presentation of Hemlock Neversink and Hemlock Spa at Kenoza Hall operating budget and upon final budget approval, assures that all functions operate within appropriated amounts;
  • Display a high level of maturity, discretion, tact, judgment and the ability to deal with confidential matters;
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with various organizations and vendors;
  • Uphold the Spa and Fitness Code of Conduct;
  • Ensure necessary electronic medical documentation to record guests’ progress;
  • Help guests coordinate their care as appropriate with other Hemlock Neversink services and outside providers;
  • Develop professional and personalized relationships with members providing a sense of comfort and belonging (i.e. greeting guests by their name any time you see them at Hemlock Neversink, checking in with the guests while they are seeing another Foster Supply Hospitality providers);
  • Assist Executive Team in marketing and public relations events;
  • Maintain complete confidentiality in all member/program matters in accordance with Foster Supply Hospitality policy;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the VP of Operations and Foster Supply Hospitality management.

Where You’ll Work:

7491 State Rte 55, Neversink, NY 12765 (80% of the time)

and

5762 NY-52, Kenoza Lake, NY 12750 (20% of the time)

Work will be performed usually indoors, with regular travel between buildings year-round. Have a keen understanding of all guest spaces within the property, including all rooms, grounds, common spaces.

Physical Requirements:

This position can be physically demanding – standing, stooping, crouching, traveling between buildings outdoors, and performing repetitive tasks for a long period of time. Walking up and down stairs may be required. Must be able to lift 50lbs.
