SCOPE OF POSITION:
Foss Waterway Seaport’s Business Operations Manager will be passionate about our mission, have excellent organization skills and a personable disposition to fit in seamlessly with our team. The ideal person will be flexible in handling day-to-day tasks as well as the unexpected. The Business Operations Manager will provide strong, reliable support for organization and museum operations, fundraising, and events. This person will also help us achieve organizational efficiency by nurturing a positive, inclusive work environment.
ATTRIBUTES OF CANDIDATE:
- Interest and/or experience in maritime history, environmental education, etc.
- Previous success in office management.
- Engaging personality and optimistic outlook.
- Ability to handle confidential information in an appropriate manner.
- Familiarity with QuickBooks is preferred, but not required.
- Commitment to being part of a team that champions an environment of diversity, equity, inclusion, access, and belonging.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Four or more years of experience in office management.
- Two or more years of experience with corporate or non-profit budgets, P&L Reports, invoice processing, and timesheet processing.
- Two or more years of experience supervising employees.
- Experience in developing internal systems.
- Advanced computer skills, i.e. proficiency with Microsoft’s Office Suite and experience with a variety of online platforms.
- Experience using DonorPerfect or similar donor management software.
- Proficiency with electronic and hard copy filing systems.
-Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Strong time-management and people skills, flexibility, organization, negotiation, and ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments.
- Intermediate or higher knowledge of standard office applications and an aptitude to learn new software and systems.
- Attention to detail and accurate data entry skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with staff, board, prospects, donors, and volunteers.
- Ability to conduct research, gather data, analyze information, and prepare effective, accurate, and timely reports and other documents to support organization objectives.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and demonstrate an understanding of business and social ethics.
