Fort Worth ISD is Hiring a Specialist iii Near Fort Worth, TX

Position Purpose

Works with school faculty, students, parents, and community to plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive college readiness program at assigned campus.

Assists campus leadership with implementation of the campus Postsecondary Plan. Ensures high standards of instruction and student achievement in Collegiate Programming, Career & Technology Education, JROTC, and Academic Advisement.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Program Management

  • Assists the ECHS / PTECH School Leader with program implementation and compliance.
  • Act as the Chair for the campus Postsecondary Team.
  • Develops and maintains the campus Postsecondary Plan.
  • Collaborates with Postsecondary Success Coordinators to meet the goals of our District Postsecondary Plan and Board Goals.
  • Implements college readiness test preparation programs to targeted teachers and students for PSAT, SAT, ACT, TSI, AP, and Pre-AP.
  • Coordinates student registration and test administration for SAT / ACT and AP exams.
  • Acts as liaison between Tarrant County College and the campus site.
  • Assists counselors in monitoring student schedules in Collegiate Programming, GSPOC, CTE, G / T, AVI, and ECHS / PTECH courses to ensure matriculation and course sequencing.
  • Guides development and oversees implementation of a 4-year high school plan for students participating in Collegiate Programming, CTE, GSPOC, AVID, and ECHS / PTECH.
  • Coordinates communication to teachers, students, and parents in matters relating to Collegiate Programming, GSPOC, CTE, G / T, ECHS / PTECH, AVID, and Postsecondary readiness.
  • Assists with Postsecondary readiness fairs and informational sessions.
  • Creates and implements program recruitment and annual program planning for Collegiate Programming, GSPOC, CTE, GT, AVID, and ECHS / PTECH courses.
  • Collects and verifies student records for recognition of students for Academic Sweatshirts, Superintendent Scholars, and other various awards.
  • Advises the master schedule team on matters related to Collegiate Programming, CTE, and GSPOC courses.
  • Communicates with supervisors on a regular basis concerning key issues and current projects.
  • Remains current on all aspects of Collegiate Programming, CTE, ECHS / PTECH, and dual credit.

Monitoring & Compliance

  • Monitors progress toward program goals and gathers other significant data relevant to the success of initiatives, grants, and programs, when applicable.
  • Meets regularly with leadership to analyze and interpret data and to coordinate campus College, Career, and Military Readiness activities.
  • Monitors development and implementation of effective and efficient assessment systems.
  • Facilitates collection of data to assist in the processing of baseline measures that help track longitudinal trends.
  • Monitors state requirements and regulations pertaining to instructional programs and professional development.
  • Maintains physical and computerized departmental files, including confidentiality regarding communications with supervisor and administrators.
  • Collects, analyzes, and disseminates College, Career, and Military Readiness campus data.
  • Maintains compliance records and coordinates training for Collegiate Programming professional learning and teacher certifications.
  • Evaluates programming and teacher placement in classes pertaining to Collegiate Programming, GSPOC, CTE, and ECHS / PTECH.

Professional Learning Community

  • Engages stakeholders, higher education, business, students, parents, and other community agencies in the development of initiatives that address the goals of the Career & Collegiate programs.
  • Provides and attends professional development and specified training to enhance skills, instructional strategies, and program management.
  • Provides regular updates of program activities and services to appropriate audiences.
  • Collaborates with District departments to coordinate and implement programs that support the special needs of all student populations.
  • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.

Safety

  • Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing; operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  • Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and promptly reports any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.

Other Duties as Assigned

Performs all job-related duties as assigned and in accordance with Board rules, policies and regulations. All employees are expected to comply with lawful directives in rare situations driven by need where a team effort is required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of counseling procedures, student appraisal and career development.
  • Knowledge of Advanced Placement, dual credit / enrollment, and Career & Technical Education.
  • Knowledge of best practices in administration and program management.
  • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding CTE, special education, individuals with disabilities, and so forth.
  • Skill in researching and interpreting relevant data.
  • Skill at the college level, in writing, speaking, and interpersonal communication skills, including principles of English and grammar usage.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate projects, work and training related to the implementation and supervision of the Career & Collegiate programs.
  • Ability to use software to access databases, email, create spreadsheets, and do word processing.
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints.
  • Ability to prepare oral or written communications, such as presentations, reports, memoranda, letters, grant proposals, curriculum documents, and so forth.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Travel Requirements

Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Physical & Mental Demands, Work Hazards

  • Tools / Equipment Used : Standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals.
  • Posture : Prolonged sitting; occasional stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing / pulling, and twisting.
  • Motion : Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.
  • Lifting : Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds).
  • Environment : Works in an office setting; may require occasional irregular and / or prolonged hours.
  • Attendance : Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.
  • Mental Demands : Maintains emotional control under stress; works with frequent interruptions.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Education : Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university in Education or a related field required; Master’s degree from accredited college or university preferred.
  • Certification / License : Valid Texas Teacher Certification required; Valid Texas Mid-Management or Principal Certification preferred.
  • Experience : 2-4 years’ classroom experience required; Experience in Advanced Academics, CTE, G / T, Academic Advisement, or Dual Credit programming preferred.
