Forsyth Technical Community College is Hiring a Nursing Clinical Instructor- Clinical Site and Clinical Preceptor Rounder Near Salem, NC

The Part-time Clinical and Preceptor Rounder, Nursing will be responsible for clinical site rounding and evaluation of instructor/preceptor teaching assignments in the clinical setting. The hours and shifts for this position are flexible and can vary.
The salary for this position will be based on experience and academic credentials.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing Note: degrees and hours must be from a college accredited by a US Department of Education accepted accrediting agency such as SACSCOC.
  • Must hold a current, unrestricted North Carolina license to practice as a registered nurse.
  • Two calendar years or the equivalent of full-time clinical experience as a registered nurse.
  • Two years of previous clinical instruction, teaching, or precepting experience as a registered nurse.
  • Prior to or within the first three years or employment, have preparation in teaching and learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, appropriate to assignment. (Note: Documentation criteria are per the North Carolina Board of Nursing).
  • Must maintain competence in the areas of assigned responsibility.
  • Have current knowledge of nursing practice for the registered nurse (and the licensed practical nurse).
  • Understand and be committed to the unique nature and role of the college.
  • Ability to work in a diverse environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in nursing with a concentration in nursing education.
  • Teaching experience.
  • Certification as Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) encouraged.
Essential Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Model an understanding of and commitment to the comprehensive community college philosophy and mission.
Teaching and Learning:
  • Assume responsibility for assignments as recommended by the clinical education coordinator and approved by the nursing department chair and dean.
  • Facilitate the learning process by implementing inclusive instructional activities designed by the clinical education coordinator that are appropriate and meaningful and that maximize equitable student outcomes.
  • Adhere to the departmental course guidelines and ensure that content covers SACSCOC-approved competencies.
  • Fulfill the duties of clinical site rounding and the supervision of instructors and preceptors as applicable.
  • Evaluate students, clinical instructors and preceptors’ performance using methods appropriate to the course and approved by the clinical education coordinator, department chair, and dean.
  • Meet with students regarding clinical education progress when applicable.
  • Pursue continuous improvement in the areas of subject matter expertise; clinical teaching and learning; the use of educational technology; diversity, equity, and inclusion; and other areas related to the strategic goals of the college.
  • Demonstrated practice of fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in the learning environment and among your team, as well as experience working in a diverse environment.
Professional Development:
  • Maintain current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for position.
  • Read professional literature.
  • Keep abreast of current technology.
  • Participate in professional development activities.
Institutional Service:
  • Adhere to all institutional policies and procedures.
  • Attend all required department meetings.
Community Relations:
  • Maintain contact with specialized vocations where applicable.
Language Skills:
  • Read written communications and analyze and interpret both verbal and written communications.
  • Respond coherently both verbally and in writing to students, co-workers, and individuals having contact with the College.
  • Present information and findings effectively to the clinical education, program coordinators, department, and dean.
Reasoning Ability:
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
