Full-time, Part-time Description JOB TITLE: Administrative Assistant - English/Mandarin Bilingual required DEPARTMENT: PS 503/506- School-Based Program Exemption: Non-Exempt PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: To provide general administrative support for the program through both translating and general office duties Center for Family Life is a neighborhood-based family and social services organization with deep roots in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. The work of Center for Family Life is grounded in the daily, lived experience of the Sunset Park community and guided by a vision of neighborhood families and social institutions evolving over time and contributing to each other's ongoing development. I.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to
Interpret/translate messages for children and parents
General office work
Assist with daily administrative tasks.
Overseeing daily sign-in, maintaining attendance rosters, and keeping accurate daily counts
Maintaining online attendance databases, running regular data reports to check for accuracy, and parent outreach
Managing the completion and tracking of the expense report
Program liaison for Cafeteria staff for school meal reports
Maintain and oversee staff personnel files
Occasionally assist with supervising children in a community based after school and summer day camp program
II. QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Degree minimum requirement: High School Diploma or Equivalency Diploma (BA, a plus)
Experience: 2 years of after-school program/office experience or currently in college
Good verbal and writing skills
Highly organized and able to manage time efficiently
Detail-oriented, dependable, and pro-active
Excellent organizational skills
Strong Youth Development background
Must love children, working in groups, and being part of a community
Flexibility and the ability to work well as a member of a team
Interested in managing and creating positive experiences for groups of youth, including participants with special needs and challenging behaviors
Bilingual: English/Mandarin, required (Cantonese, a plus)
III. RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHERS
Build and maintain close, daily interactions with participants, co-workers, and supervisors
Effectively communicate with teenagers, parents, and outside agency staff
Forge a mutually respectful partnership with persons served and their families.

IV. WORKING CONDITIONS
Flexible working in an office setting and non-traditional classroom spaces
May be exposed to all weather conditions and might be required to work in various temperatures in order to facilitate activities in various locations inside and outside of the school building
May also attend various meetings with different departments to discuss proposals and progress
V. SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY The Administrative Assistant focuses on providing general program support to administrative tasks. Other information: The position is regular part-time, with a minimum requirement of 30 hours per week.
