Food Bank for the Heartland is Hiring a Distribution Center Coordinator Near Omaha, NE

Position title: Distribution Center Coordinator
Reports to: Distribution Center Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, full-time
Position Purpose:
The Distribution Center Coordinator will support the mission of Food Bank for the Heartland to reduce food insecurity by coordinating receiving and distribution daily operations. This role will serve as the primary lead in cross-departmental operations. In addition, this role assists in developing and supporting the metrics ensuring distribution and inventory accuracy that directly supports departmental strategies and objectives that align with the Food Bank for the Heartland's overall mission and goals.
Essential accountabilities:
  • Coordination of the day-to-day schedule of the Distribution Center including work assignments and daily tasks
  • Coordination of (but not limited to) inventory levels of receiving and distribution to include inbound product verification, order accuracy, daily and monthly inventory counts
  • Ensure efficient and organized distribution center processes, optimizing layouts, and implementing best practices for productivity
  • In partnership with Quality Assurance, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to food handling and storage with all regulatory agencies
  • Work in conjunction with operational leadership and department coordinators to forecast the needs of the Distribution Center
  • Work in conjunction with Quality Assurance to correct order discrepancies including pulling of missing product, tagging, and staging products for redelivery
  • Serve as backup for the Distribution Center for PTO and illness
  • Effectively communicate with Network Relations, Food Sourcing, and Transportation teams to promptly rectify any logistical, customer service, or product issues.
  • Daily coordination of distribution center Forklift Operators Daily Checklist of all equipment with distribution center staff
  • Daily coordination of distribution center facilities cleaning schedule with distribution center staff
  • Abide by all food and distribution center safety rules and regulations
  • Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Ability to make and communicate decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Forklift and other equipment trained or trainable
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
  • Routinely lift 50 pounds
Education and experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in distribution center coordination or relatable field.
  • Forklift and pallet walker certification required (FBFH will certify if necessary).
Physical Demands:
Some duties of this job description require the employee to be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and be able to use appropriate equipment to lift and move greater amounts. Must be able to work in high-traffic areas with forklifts, pallet jacks, and moving objects. While performing these duties the employee is frequently required to bend, crawl, sit, talk, move about, hear, and speak.

Work Environment
The employee works primarily in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone, and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in this work environment is typical of that of an office setting. The employee may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the workday.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee typically works in a fast-paced work environment spending considerable time on their feet on concrete floors. The employee must be able to work in various weather and temperature conditions including extreme heat, humidity, and cold. Must also be able to work inside refrigerated areas where food is kept. Throughout the work shift, the employee will be exposed to warehouse air and a noisy work environment.
