Position Overview

The HR Generalist is responsible for providing comprehensive HR support and customer service to team members in talent acquisition, HR systems, employee inquiries, policy, and process administration for all levels within their area of focus.

In addition, the HR Generalist will work with the HRBP manager to analyze trends and identify solutions to help develop and implement process improvements within HR or the business unit that they work within. The HR Generalist will also partner with the Centers of Expertise (cop, benefits, legal) on various projects and initiatives and be the liaison between the business COEs and HRBPs on the rollout of projects and programs or changes that may arise.

Additionally, the HR Generalist partners with other departments and vendors to build strong customer relationships and collaboratively meet shared objectives to create new and better ways for the organization to be successful. The HR Generalist upholds company values and demonstrates behaviors aligned with Follett's core competencies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide superior customer service to team members by promptly responding to their inquiries, achieving established customer service and performance-related measures. Interpret standard administrative procedures and practices, escalating non-routine matters to appropriate individuals in the Centers of Excellence or HRBP team.
  • Perform high-level activities related to compliance, unemployment, HRIS, performance and talent management, productivity, recognition, background checks, store transitions, store closures, reasonable accommodations, and exit interviews.
  • Maintain appropriate records relating to team member inquiries. Process incidents with the aim of improving efficiency, productivity, and delivery of hassle-free service to team members.
  • Advises team members and management on the interpretation of policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Assists in the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of internal knowledge base, employee directory, and system data integrity for assigned teams.
  • Determines and recommends if training or other interventions are needed to close gaps around process management and compliance.
  • Partner with COEs, including talent acquisition, HRIS, and benefits, to participate in programs and initiatives to provide best-in-class HR support to business partners.
  • Partners with the respective HR Business Partner on various projects such as training, performance, succession planning and reporting etc.
  • Play an active role in training the business on HR operational processes and procedures.
  • Responsible for other day-to-day work such as preparation of reports, special projects, and other duties as required.
  • Other projects/tasks as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or relevant experience.
  • 3-5 years of Human Resources experience in the area of recruiting, systems, HR projects, and/or employee relations.
  • Excellent telephone, written, and verbal communication skills are necessary.
  • ADP or similar experience preferred. Microsoft Office experience is required.
  • Ability to research system issues and analyze various types of data.
  • Ability to make recommendations to resolve problems by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations, and state and federal law.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to include training presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to flex communication style to all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to multi-task and drive results in a fast-paced, complex environment.
  • Ability to handle difficult customers and facilitate service recovery to drive employee satisfaction and ensure customer-focused solutions.
  • PHR certification preferred.
