The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll including verifying time records, computing production-based pay and payroll deductions. The ideal candidate has 2-3 years of experience in a similar role and strong communication skills - the Payroll Specialist works closely with managers and employees to resolve payroll issues while verifying compliance with company policies and procedures.

Salary
$23 - $24 / hour

Qualifications

• Proven understanding of payroll principles, rules, regulations and their application.
• Previous experience and proficiency with payroll and HRIS software.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail including accurate and meticulous data entry.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented with the ability to work effectively and independently.
• High school diploma or the equivalent or two to three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Accounting or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process and issue employee pay and pay statements while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
• Verify attendance, hours worked, overtime, sick days and vacation days of employees.
• Maintains and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
• Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates
• Process manual checks and adjustments as needed posting earnings to designated account
• Serve as a communication-link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering policies and procedures and helping resolve payroll-related problems.
• Update and reconcile payroll accruals
