FirstService Residential is Hiring a Fitness Instructor Near La Quinta, CA

Job Overview:

The Fitness Instructor essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include but does not exclude assigned duties from management.Fitness trainers and instructors lead, instruct, and motivate individuals or groups in exercise activities, including cardiovascular exercise (exercises for the heart and blood system), strength training, and stretching.

Compensation: $15.50-16.00 hourly ($55.00 per hour when teaching classes)

FirstService Residential will compensate the successful candidate in accordance with the posted range. The salary or wage paid to the successful candidate will be commensurate with experience, education, and specific job responsibilities. For positions designated at a client's property, the salary or wage will also be premised upon the client's directive. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Leading classes in a timely manner that start and stop on time.
  • Creating an environment that is competitive, while maintaining a positive temperament with all members
  • Making moments count with each member during your class. Meaning, each member feels as though you are coaching them directly.
  • Possesses an entrepreneurial spirit and manages your time during class.
  • Preparing for classes ensuring all viruses and communicable diseases cleanliness levels are ahead and exiting class after all cleanliness levels are completed.
  • Greeting member and assisting with weights and equipment selection and introducing new attendees to the class.
  • Attending meeting when required.
  • Communication with manager on a regular basis.
  • Responsible for the assigned for duties at Fitness Desk

Opening and closing the Santa Rosa building, Coral Mountain, HOA and Creative Arts Building

  • Unlock/lock doors.
  • Disarm alarm systems.
  • Check to make sure all fitness equipment is out that is need for the day.
  • Restock and check men's and women's locker room for needed amenities.
  • Turn on music to the appropriate room in the Santa Rosa Building
  • Turn on all the lights in both buildings.
  • Review premises to ensure no one is left in building unattended.

Duties at the Fitness Desk Reception Area:

  • Put out sign ups sheets for fitness classes.
  • Clean and straighten reception desk as needed.
  • Fold and Stock towels during the day
  • Stock inventory as needed for the retail area.
  • Register guest for monthly passes, personal training, tennis lessons, class fees, Guest fees, and Retail into POS system.
  • Make closing reports and making bank drops at end of day.
  • Make sure we have copies made for all Class schedules, sign in sheets. Register reconciliation etc.
  • Making reservation for reserving a courts, classes, personal training, and tennis lesion.
  • Working Reservation system and website
  • Defecting for all viruses and communicable diseases at end of shift

Duties Aerobic Room:

  • Restock towels as needed before and after each class.
  • Turn on lights and fan in morning and turn off at closing.
  • Set exercise room related training session.
  • Break down and clear room of exercise equipment after class.
  • Organize equipment after classes are done.
  • Check room for used towels and trash.
  • Check if water is needed though the day.
  • Check the temp in the morning to make sure the AC is on the right temp.
  • Defecting for all viruses and communicable diseases

Duties Fitness Center- Gym

  • Restock and empty soiled towels throughout the day.
  • Make sure each piece of cardio equipment is cleaned.
  • Towels are at all cardio equipment.
  • Wipe strength equipment and free weight racks
  • Wipe down stretch mats, stability balls, medicine balls, and all other etc.

Duties Locker Room:

  • Restock hand towels and empty towel from hampers as need throughout the day
  • Refill amenities
  • Clean the shampoo, bath gel, conditioning bottles, and check lockers daily
  • Defecting for all viruses and communicable diseases

Duties Pool Areas

  • Ensure umbrellas are in place, table/chairs are clean and in order, as well as pick up any littler along the pool decks.
  • Ensure that each guest has checked in and paid accordingly.
  • After 3 pm make sure children less than 16 years of age are not in pool area
  • Check the pool for water clarity, dirt and equipment issues, notify pool company immediately upon findings.
  • Make sure gates entering the pool area are closed and locked.

Duties Tennis courts and walkways

  • Check water dispensers.
  • Make sure gates to Zen Garden and Spa pool areas are closed.
  • Notify manager if manager if walkways are obstructed or need repair/cleaning.

Fitness Personal Training, Fitness Classes instructors and Fitness Desk

  • Demonstrate how to carry out various exercises and routines.
  • Watch clients do exercises and show or tell them correct techniques to minimize injury and improve fitness.
  • Give alternative exercises during workouts or classes for different levels of fitness and skill.
  • Monitor clients' progress and adapt programs as needed.
  • Explain and enforce safety rules and regulations on sports, recreational activities, and the use of exercise equipment.
  • Give clients information or resources about nutrition, weight control, and lifestyle issues.
  • Give emergency first aid if needed.

Fitness Classes: Both group and specialized fitness instructors plan or choreograph their classes. Choose music that is appropriate for their exercise class and create a routine or a set of moves for a class to follow. Teach pre-choreographed routines that are created for your age demographics.

Personal fitness trainers carry out workout routines specific to the needs of their clients. In larger facilities, personal trainers must sell their training sessions to members. They start by evaluating their clients' current fitness level, personal goals, and skills. Then, they develop personalized training programs for their clients to follow, and they monitor the clients' progress.

Fitness trainers and instructors will have a variety of tasks in addition to their fitness duties, such as tending the fitness desk, signing up new members, giving tours of the fitness center, writing newsletter articles, creating posters and flyers, and supervising the weight-training and cardiovascular equipment areas.

Fitness PT/Instructor will be conducting individual sessions and teach group classes.

Personal fitness trainerswork with a single client or a small group. Train in the gym or in any part of Trilogy la Quinta properties. Personal fitness trainers assess the clients' level of physical fitness and help them set and reach their fitness goals.

Group fitness instructorsorganize and lead group exercise sessions, which can include aerobic exercise, stretching, muscle conditioning, or meditation. Some classes are set to music. In these classes, instructors will select the music and choreograph an exercise sequence that is appropriate.

Specialized fitness instructorsteach popular conditioning methods such as Pilates or yoga. In these classes, instructors show the different moves and positions of the method. They also watch students and correct those who are doing the exercises improperly by explaining the positions and corrections

Skills & Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education & Experience:

  • Minimum of Two years of class instruction with classes of 10 members or higher
  • Positive references from the health and fitness industry
  • Certifications for specialty class and / or personal trainer (NASM, ACE, NESTA, ISSA)
  • Course work that includes anatomy, biomechanics and nutrition for personal trainers
  • Two year of Personal Training experience
  • Language skills: Good Knowledge of English language, grammar and spelling ability to read and interpret documents such as policy and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customer or employees of organization. Ability to accurately proofread documents.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, Ability to compute rate, ration, and percentage.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems. Involving several concrete variables, in standardized situations.
  • Computer Skills: Personal computer proficiency, including Microsoft outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point

Physical Requirements and Working Environment:

The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by the Nail Tech, Massage Therapist, and or Esthetician to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the Massage Therapist/Esthetician is regularly required to talk and hear. The Massage Therapist/Esthetician is frequently required to walk and sit, and occasionally is required to stand. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.

  • Ability to walk extensive slope and/or flat association areas and visually review landscape, building areas, recreation facilities, parks etc. to ensure proper maintenance.

Schedule :This is a Part-time to Full-time position with hours may change week to week. May be required to work overtime as needed and approved by supervisor, including occasional evening and occasional meetings. Consistent and regular attendance required.
