About the Opportunity
This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co. a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.

This position is responsible to support core Transmission and Construction & Design Services training initiatives owned by Workforce Development. This individual will support a variety of cross-functional programs including the role-based curriculums, PDH working group, EPRI collaboration, as well as other ad hoc requests. Individual must work well in a team environment; build strong working relationships at all levels of the organization; be self-driven; possess strong communication skills - both written and verbal; seek out process improvement opportunities; and have an acute attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrating a solid commitment to all aspects of safety.
  • Serve as WFD liaison and provide ad hoc project management support through needs analysis, identifying training interdependencies, recommend appropriate training strategy, long term planning and sustainment, etc.
  • Administer growing role-based curriculum program (MML to HCM transition):
    • Transmission
    • Construction & Design Services
    • IT/ITTSC
    • ROE/COOP Engineer
  • Facilitate PDH Working Group and library maintenance.
  • Support overall change management and stakeholder engagement for the various projects.
  • Develop department communications that directly aligns with our communication strategy.
  • Lead process improvement activiites through collaboration across the various inititives we support.
  • Coordinate external vendor training efforts.
  • Actively seek formal and informal learning opportunities to better understand Workforce Development practices and procedures.
  • Work on multiple projects and ad-hoc management requests simultaneously.
  • Delivering professional quality, accurate work within established deadlines.
  • Contribute to solutions by taking initiative to develop alternatives and recommendations.
  • Proactively seek ways to build, challenge and add value within scope of assignments.
  • Demonstrate sound internal and/or external customer service.
  • Develop effective working relationships and credibility with employees within the work group and stakeholders.
  • Aid during emergencies and storm-related activities including travelling to various FirstEnergy locations.

Qualifications at the Adv. Workforce Development Rep degree include all the above plus:

  • Four-year degree in Business, Finance, IT Engineering, or related discipline along with a minimum of 8 years related work experience required. In lieu of a degree a High School Diploma and 10 years related work experience required. The experience also must include a general understanding of the subject matter. Additional related experience includes analysis, project management, training delivery and development, or transmission related practices.
  • Proficient computer application skills: such as Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, and proficiency in PowerPoint and Word.
  • Ability to attain and maintain WFD instructor certification.
  • Ability to develop and maintain functional computer knowledge applicable to the training section.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate training programs.
  • Writing skills to compose clear and concise message.
  • Verbal communication skills to convey ideas, policies, and procedures in a clear, concise and understandable manner.
  • Reading/comprehension skills to be able to understand and interpret various company documents.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to accept and promote change.
  • Must be a self-starter and require minimal supervisory oversight with good time management skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple priorities and projects
  • Good analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly driven, self-motivated worker that is organized, task oriented with a strong attention to detail.
