Basic Job Functions :

Performs, as directed, all necessary maintenance of the facility, equipment and grounds, in a timely and cost efficient manner.

Education and Experience :

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Associate’s degree in a technical field preferred.
• Must meet one of the following : 6 months First Solar manufacturing experience or 6 months of outside manufacturing, mechanical, or agricultural experience Military experience Graduate from vocational High School with no experience required
• Must pass community college entrance exam and complete manufacturing maintenance training program.

Required Skills / Competencies :

• Verifiable technical skills and / or background.
• Ability to work with little supervision.
• Demonstrated troubleshooting skill.
• Knowledge of computer applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Proven communications skills.
• Ability to follow safe work practices.
• Knowledge of manufacturing equipment preferred.
• Proven Electro / Mechanical skills preferred.
• Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, vacuum systems and robotics preferred.

Essential Responsibilities :

• Accomplishes daily assignments as scheduled and as directed.
• Performs the on-site service and repair of equipment.
• Must meet at least 70% of Estimated Repair Times
• Interfaces with other departments.
• Follows standard OSHA, EPA and company safe practices on all work assignments.
• Ability to read electrical & mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
• Performs other assignments as required.
• Responsible to manage waste generated from any work that is performed as instructed.
• Will complete First Solar Maintenance Technician 1 training program.

Reporting Relationships :

No direct reports.

Travel :

No regular travel is required outside the First Solar work site.

Estimated Salary Range :

$23.00-$29.00, Hourly

US Physical Requirements :

• Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to 12 hours per day.
• Will climb stairs on an occasional basis.
• Will lift up to 58 pounds on an occasional basis, according to work instruction.
• Will lift up to 37 pounds on a frequent basis
• Will push or pull up to 27 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
• Will push or pull up to 10 pounds of force on a frequent basis.
• Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects repetitively on a frequent basis.
• 20 / 40 vision in each eye (with or without correction) and the ability to distinguish between red, yellow and green is required.
• May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
• May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
• Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, cut resistant gloves, jackets, aprons & / or arm guards, safety glasses, hearing protection).
• All associates working on the production floor may be required to wear a respirator at any given time and thus, the ability to wear a respirator is a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair).
