First Call Professional Services is Hiring an OSP Field Specialist Near Lisbon, IN

First Call Professional Services is now hiring for a OSP Field Specialist for the New Lisbon, Indiana area.
This is a Direct Hire position with a salary of $65,000.00- $80,000.00 DOE
Main Duties of this position include but not limited to:
1.
Prepares and designs drawings for construction of new and removal or rearrangement of existing aerial and buried cables, conduits applications.
2.
Designs and prepares field drawing and staking sheets for new fiber optic cables in support of advanced service offerings.
3. Selects routing for buried and/or aerial lines and determines equipment requirements.
4. Prepares detailed construction and installation drawings and estimates equipment, labor, and material costs.
5. Prepares, negotiates, and secures necessary permits, easements, and rights-of-way.
6. Coordinates with Contract Supervisor on as built drawings from construction contractors.
7. The Field Specialist shall assist the Operations Manager in completion of the capital and operational budgets.
Essential Job Functions (Field Specialist)
  • Designs and prepares drawings and staking sheets for new construction, aerial or underground lines, fiber optic cable and conduits.
  • Designs and prepares drawings and staking sheets for new fiber optic routes in support of advanced service offerings.
  • Ensures compliance with industry specifications by staking all lines to be built and/or rearranged. Organizes and files necessary paperwork and staking sheets.
  • Responsible for assisting with department’s annual budget by providing basic designs with associated estimates of cost for new and on-going construction projects.
  • Designs and assists in coordinating the installation of optical transmission systems. Assigns cable counts to assist with preparation cut sheets for cutovers in fiber outside plant configurations.
  • Prepares and reviews as-built material and unit totals prior to close-out of each job or project.
  • Reviews invoices and verifies units placed against original estimates.
  • Interacts with employees and other departments, attends, and participates in inter departmental planning meetings to coordinate and communicate activities related to the successful completion of projects.
  • Works closely with accounting department on inventory control
  • Prepares, negotiates, and secures necessary permits, easements and right-of-ways
  • Trains company employees as requested on topics related to job functions.
  • Makes job safety a priority in all duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of telecommunications construction and engineering practices and principles.
  • Knowledge of transmission qualities and capabilities of fiber plants.
  • Knowledge of the understanding of FTTH design and implementation.
  • Knowledge of the electronics and apparatus needed to support advanced fiber technology.
  • Knowledge of plant records keeping experience with fiber and copper plant preferred.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations affecting engineering projects including NESC Safety Regulations
and RUS guidelines.
  • Knowledge of company products and services.
  • Knowledge of company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to operate various office equipment such as personal computers, various software programs,
and telephone systems.
  • Ability to problem identification and resolution.
  • Skilled in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and forms including work orders, staking sheets,
schematics, and specification manuals.
  • Ability to communicate with customers, co-workers, and various business contacts in a professional
and courteous manner.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to make sound decisions using information at hand.
  • Ability to effectively function as a team player.
Education and Experience
Associate degree in a related technical field or equivalent work experience.
5 years of experience in telecommunications engineering and design.
Must possess a valid Indiana driver’s license
