Receive, load, unload and distribute materials, parts, equipment, and other products within the facilities. Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipments. These responsibilities, and others as assigned, are accomplished by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include, but not limited to, the following:
Reads production reports, customer orders, work orders, shipping report, packing lists or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
Transport materials and other items from receiving, production or general warehouse areas to storage or other designated areas.
Sorts and places materials or other items on racks, shelves, bins, or other storage areas according to part code, specification of the product and/or department needing access to materials and/or items.
Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials or other stock items and distributes items to production team members or others making request.
Fills customer orders from stock and communicates with appropriate personnel on matters such as inadequate inventory levels, need for supporting documentation, inability to meet shipping requirements, etc.
Mark materials with identifying information for shipping or storage.
Load and unload materials from truck
Operate forklift and other equipment needed to perform job.
When necessary, open and / or weights boxes or other containers to verify content and quantity.
Maintain accurate record keeping on inventory levels, shipping documents, receiving, distribution or disposal.
Weigh and/or count inventory items going in and out of plant or in the normal course of a physical or cycle inventory count to ensure accuracy and conformance to company standards.
Maintain accurate inventory quantities.
Use a computer or data collection device to look up necessary information and/or enter data.
Drive vehicle to transport inventory and/or other items from one warehouse to another.
Responsible for ordering supplies for the department.
Maintains organization and cleanliness of all warehouses.
Communicates with transport companies regarding pickups, deliveries, dates of operation, etc.
Must have a complete knowledge of the products manufactured, product specifications and customer specification.
Individuals must be cross trained in all aspects of the job, across product lines
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent. Some college or vocational training preferred but not required.
Some computer and keyboarding experience necessary. Experience with data collection devices.
Some experience as shipping/receiving clerk, material handler or warehouse worker preferred.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Must be able to work in a group and be able to communicate effectively with a cross section of people.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
OTHER SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
Must have positive “can do” attitude.
Must be able to accept constructive criticism.
Individual must be able to handle multiple tasks at once.
Must be able to take directions from multiple departments.
Individual must be receptive to and able to handle change.
Individual must be self-motivated, have strong reasoning and problem-solving abilities.
Must have excellent math skills.
Ability to work overtime when needed.
Must be open to new ideas, work well in a team, and make contributions to the team and the organization
