Responsibilities of the Material Handling Specialist include, but are not limited to :

• Provide the support necessary for functions related to the distribution of material, tools, equipment and products within the plant
• Provide assistance within the receiving function by using drawings, bill-of materials, work orders, customer orders, production schedules, shipping orders purchase orders or requisitions
• Adhere to a set of key indicators that can be used as an internal benchmark for the continuous improvement of the material central function
• Insure that the company maintains a competitive edge in the marketplace.
• Process all material movements that support the material control function
• Distribute fabrication, assembly and operating supplies to all departments
• Assist in unloading steel trucks, inspect incoming materials, verify material test reports (MTR's) in accordance with quality assurance program
• Coordinates with the assembly, fabrication and materials departments to resolve any material discrepancies
• Assist in locating received parts and replacing incorrect parts received
• Identify and manage surplus material
• Take inventory stock quantities of designated items
• Organize and maintain designated sections of the laydown yard
• Perform cycle counts of inventoried items and reports the data to the Buyer

Qualifications of the Material Handling Specialist include, but are not limited to :

• Specific experience in a multi-plant, centralized material control environment is a plus
• Proficient in the use of MS Office, primarily Excel and Word is a plus
• Total quality management, continuous improvement, lean manufacturing experience a plus
