Position: Human Resources Assistant, GS 7/8/9

Division: San Francisco Field Office

Location: San Francisco, California

Working Hours:

Monday - Friday

8:15 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Hours may vary depending on the needs of the office.

Salary:

GS 7 - $57,778.00 - $75,111.00

GS 8 - $63,987.00 - $83,188.00

GS 9 - $70,674.00 - $91,873.00

Full Performance level: GS 9

Number of Positions Available: 1

Duration: Full Time/Permanent

Mission Statement:

The mission of the FBI is to protect the American People and uphold the Constitution of the United States.

Major Duties:

  • Responsible for recruiting for a variety of positions at all grade levels in the FBI and perform a full range of duties pertaining to the Bureau's overall applicant program(s) such as screening applications for completeness, testing, interviewing, and hiring.
  • Participates in recruitment activities such as university career fairs and/or recruiting conferences.
  • Provides advice and guidance to walk-in and telephone callers concerning interests in career opportunities with the FBI.
  • Advises employees about various HR matters, including career opportunities, applications, employee benefits, pay, retirement, insurance, etc.
  • Generates work for field office personnel and Background Investigations and Contract Services (BICS) personnel.
  • Processes, verifies, and maintains personnel related documentation, including staffing, recruitment, training, grievances, performance evaluations, personnel actions, classifications, and employees' leave of absence.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Specialized Experience (SE):

GS 07: Applicants must possess at least (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS 06 grade level. Specialized Experience is defined as follows:

  • Reviewed job applications for accuracy and qualifications.
  • Performed general clerical tasks such as answering telephone calls and greeting visitors, preparing correspondence and other documents, maintaining files, and/or entering and retrieving computerized data.
  • Answered questions regarding career opportunities, applying for a position, and employee benefits, including pay, retirement and insurance.

GS 08: Applicants must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS 07 grade level. Specialized Experience is defined as follows:

  • Reviewed job applications for accuracy and qualifications.
  • Performed general clerical tasks such as answering telephone calls and greeting visitors, preparing correspondence and other documents, maintaining files, and/or entering and retrieving computerized data and compiling statistics.
  • Answered questions regarding career opportunities, applying for a position, and employee benefit including pay, retirement and insurance.
  • Delivered presentations to a variety of audiences.

GS 09: Applicants must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS 08 grade level. Specialized Experience is defined as follows:

  • Reviewed job applications for accuracy and qualifications.
  • Evaluated applicants' work experience and/or educational background to determine appropriate positions for which applicants might be hired.
  • Answered questions regarding career opportunities, applying for a position, and employee benefits including pay, retirement and insurance.
  • Scheduled and conducted recruitment activities to recruit for clerical, technical and/or specialty positions.
  • Developed and delivered presentations to a variety of audiences.

Education

All degrees must be from an accredited college or university. Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows:

GS 7: Applicant must have a bachelor’s degree with superior academic achievement or one (1) full year of graduate level education. Superior academic achievement is the completion of all the requirements of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, which is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average of 3.0 or higher as recorded on an official transcript, or as based on courses completed during the final two years of the curriculum, or (3) honor society membership.

GS 8 & GS 9: Education may not be substituted for specialized experience at these grade levels.
