SALARY: $100,000 – $120,000 yearly salary, depending on experience
START DATE: Spring 2024 – flexible start date, preferably as soon as possible
Job Summary
FCC Environmental Services is currently seeking a Compost Operations Manager to join our Operations Team. We are seeking a candidate with experience and knowledge managing all aspects of composting operations, including but not limited to organics pre and post processing, daily material processing, supervision of employees, maintaining safety standards, and compliance with environmental and governmental regulations.
This position will assist the Senior Operations Manager and Senior General Manager with overseeing all aspects of the compost facility located at the Western Placer Waste Management Authority (WPWMA) facility. This includes an onsite compost facility which is being constructed utilizing covered aerated static pile (CASP) composting. The primary role of this position is to manage the day-to-day operations, including supervision of the compost equipment operators, and to ensure material is being processed efficiently and to all operating best management practices (BMPs). The Compost Operations Manager may also assist with maintaining compliance with environmental regulatory standards and interacting with regulatory bodies, including but not limited to the Placer County Air Pollution Control District (PCAPCD), the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB), CalRecycle and the Placer County Local Enforcement Agency (LEA). This position will provide support to the Senior Operations Manager and Senior General Manager and may be given additional tasks, projects, and responsibilities.

The facility is located at the Western Placer Waste Management Authority (WPMWA) site serving Placer County. WPWMA is a regional agency established in 1978 through a joint exercise of powers agreement between Placer County and the cities of Lincoln, Rocklin, and Roseville (Member Agencies) to own and operate a regional recycling facility and sanitary landfill. The facilities support over 400,000 homes in Placer County receiving approximately 500,000 tons of waste per year, which includes approximately 68,000 tons of green waste & food waste organics for composting.
