Farstad Oil is Hiring a Sales Manager Near Billings, MT

Farstad Oil is part of Parkland USA and the Parkland Corporation family of brands. Parkland is an independent supplier and marketer of fuel and petroleum products and a leading convenience store operator.

Position Title: Sales Manager

Location: Montana (Billings or Bozeman)

Salary: $75,000 - $105,000 annually (DOE)

Position Summary: The Sales Manager leads the overall sales management of Parkland USA’s Sales Department to deliver growth and long-term profitability. Effectively communicate Parkland USA’s value proposition and identify and satisfy customer expectations for product, service, and value delivered, so that the potential for profitability and business growth is maximized.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads and coordinates activities of the Sales Team which implements sales and service strategies directed towards growth of sales and profitability with assigned customer base.
  • Leads and coordinates activities of the Sales Team to ensure internal compliance with ISO 9001 procedures
  • Develops overall sales objectives for customer base and develop a strategic plan to achieve those objectives.
  • Develops& cultivates good business relationships with key cross functional decision makers at customer accounts.
  • Leads the implementation of the customer value proposition by the Sales Team and drive the progression of customers through the development process.
  • Prepares, leads and finalizes negotiations and contracts with customers
  • Informs and coordinates for contract approvals with corporate support groups (Tax, Legal, etc.) as required.
  • Develops pricing strategies as a result of detailed competitive and market knowledge.
  • Use sales forecasting and strategic planning to ensure the sale and profitability of products or services by analyzing business developments and monitoring market trends.
  • Leads and leverages cross-training efforts across the Sales Team to encourage sharing of responsibility and improved ability to service customer needs.
  • Promotes customer focus and customer issues to the internal organization.
  • Selects and hires employees for the Super pumper accounting staff. Trains and evaluates employees to enhance their performance, development, and work product. Addresses performance issues and makes recommendations for personnel actions.
  • Manages and optimizes the Sales Team’s travel budget.
  • Coordinates and participate in promotional activities and trade shows, working with developers, advertisers, and production managers, to market products and services.
  • Ensures that confidentiality of data collected and stored are maintained.
  • Reviews accounts receivables and contact the Credit Manager or Assistant Credit Manager if an account is accruing a large balance without payments being received
  • Employee must demonstrate safe work and risk management practices. Communicate and enforce all safety and security issues. Report and process all employee and/or customer incidents or unsafe acts in accordance with Parkland USA’s policy and procedure.
  • Employee is expected to set priorities and meet deadlines. Employee is responsible for planning and carrying out assignments, resolving conflicts that arise, informing and coordinating with others as expected. Employee is accountable for insuring the technical accuracy of their work and maintaining good working relations, both internal and external to Parkland USA. Self-direction and motivation are also expected.
  • Must meet performance expectations. Must complete all duties as assigned.
  • Frequent travel by conventional means including aircraft, motor vehicle and the like within the region and to other locations is required–approximately 50%.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or related field with proven sales strategy development and success.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of management and sales experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good understanding of product-related contracts and regulatory issues related to sales.
  • Customer focus and interpersonal relationship building skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Outstanding teamwork and collaboration skills that drive timely, value added results.
  • Ability to plan and organize tasks; self-motivated
