Position Purpose: Primary responsibilities include washing dishes and foodservice equipment. All nutrition service positions assist with food production as assigned.
Responsibilities:Washes all types of foodservice equipment utilizing three compartment sinks, spray hoses, automated dishwasher, towels and scouring pads, warm to hot water, cleaning chemicals, and other associated items. Related tasks include, but not limited to, unloading trays and serving equipment from transportation carts, pre-rinsing, and loading items into an automated dish machine. Task also include putting clean equipment in their proper storage areas.
Cleans kitchen equipment and facilities as needed. This includes, but is not limited to, steam kettles, floor drains, sinks, coolers and freezers, transportation carts. Cleaning tasks require the use of water hoses, floor scrubbers, automated dish machines, chemicals, and other associated tools.
Train/cross train coworkers on job responsibilities related to this position.
Washes, dries, folds and puts away towels and aprons.
Assists kitchen staff with assorted culinary tasks including, but not limited to, washing fruits and vegetables, portioning and/or packaging food, loading packaged food into transportation carts, and transferring large quantities of food from one location to another within the assigned location.
Completes additional tasks assigned by the Operations Supervisor; daily and weekly tasks will be assigned.
Qualifications:High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
Ability to stand and walk during long periods of the shift.
Shows interest and enthusiasm in preparing and serving a nutritious meal of high quality.
Able to prepare food according to standardized recipes. Must follow required safety and sanitation procedures. Keep a neat and clean appearance. The knowledge of standardized work routines learned in 2-8 weeks. Requires basic math skills for accurate measuring and recipe conversion.
Previous experience with large-scale cooking and food preparation/serving preferred.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
