Job Title: Group/Parent Facilitator I (Youth Education & Career Services)

Location: The Neighborhood Place / 3014 Rivas Street / San Antonio, TX 78228

Schedule: Varied Shifts / Day or Afternoon Shifts Available (some evenings/weekends may be required)

JOB SUMMARY:

The Group Facilitator I/Parent Facilitator I assists with facilitating program covering social emotional learning, STEAM activities, life skills, college/career readiness training, etc for youth. This position does outreach and recruitment for program participation within elementary, middle, and high schools depending on the need and various community events; and assists with facilitating multi-component education and prevention programs at the school and community partner levels, while ensuring that services provided are in alignment with the Social Determinants of Health through a trauma informed care lens as defined by the agency. The Facilitator will work in the various schools assigned for in-school and/or after school programming in the afternoon to evenings, in addition to supporting family programming in the evenings as well. Will work closely with Youth Education team and provide support for all youth programming as needed throughout the year. Must also serve as point of contact for youth interns during summer for paid summer internships. Must have strong collaboration and teamwork skills as a staff member of Youth Pathways. The Group Facilitator will also assist on various projects and programming throughout the Youth Education and Career Services department and other duties as assigned.

Must have strong recruitment skills to create new cohort for upcoming program year. Must also have strong relationship building skills and mentorship to maintain high retention for Youth Pathways program. Must provide youth and their families with any resources or support as needed.

Facilitator must enter data entry into agency’s Clienttrack database and maintain client files. Must have valid Texas Driver’s license and have reliable transportation. Will need to buy program supplies from store as needed, transport supplies between home office and schools as needed, and may need to drive agency vehicle for youth academic/enrichment trips.

Essential Functions:

  1. Ensures that clients have access, as needed, to all five pillars of the social determinants of health with a trauma informed lens through Agency services and/or community partners.
  2. Assist with the planning, presenting, and facilitating of education and prevention workshops or services and community-based support group meetings for children, youth and adult participants. Recruitment, retention, implementation and completion rates for service participants are maintained in accordance with curriculum fidelity/requirements.
  3. Assist individuals and families by providing resources and referral information for community agencies and conduct follow-up on referrals.
  4. Assist with developing and maintaining collaborative working arrangements with local governments (municipal, county, and independent school districts), community based agencies or local offices of State and Federal agencies, and community residents.
  5. Assist in maintaining client records required for monthly statistical reports and implementing designated system to collect, report, and analyze service and productivity data.
  6. Assist in entering client information and client service participation and attendance into the agency’s database and/or other reporting/tracking system as required by agency need.
  7. Assist in securing program presentation sites and selecting materials for use in the various program specific prevention and education services.
  8. Assist in recruiting, interviewing, training and placing service volunteers and community partners.
  9. Attend agency, program and staff/team meetings, peer consultations, and other meetings as assigned.
  10. Maintain good relationships with stakeholders (including current and potential clients, community and co-workers), focusing on providing excellent and culturally sensitive customer service and presenting a positive image of the agency in all community and stakeholder interactions.
  11. Maintain a working environment which encourages mutual respect, promotes respectful and congenial relationships between employees and is free from all forms of harassment.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned, including presentations to community groups and organizations, in accordance with the agency’s “team” philosophy.

Education/Training/Experience:

  1. Associate’s degree in education, health, social work, or some college hours preferred. Experience with youth programming and classroom management preferred
  2. High School Diploma or equivalent plus four (4) years of related work experience such as youth programming and classroom management preferred. Some background in developing and presenting prevention and education workshops or programs is desirable, case management or social service delivery.
  3. Experience in developing and presenting prevention and education workshops or programs is desirable.
  4. Experience in understanding cultural differences and is sensitive to the implications of culture for service delivery.
  5. Fluent in English and Spanish (read, write, and speak) desirable.
  6. Staff will be required to submit proof of their vaccination status or may request to be exempt from vaccination due to a religious and/or medical accommodation.
  7. Certificate or license, as applicable, by the appropriate State agency as a qualified practitioner.
  8. State of Texas vehicle operator’s license and proof of liability insurance.
