Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Director of Training, the Clinical Training Specialist is responsible for ensuring the effective scheduling and delivery of training opportunities. Family Residences and Essential Enterprises, Inc. FREE provides a diverse array of supports and services including: housing; recovery services; transition to work; employment; day, community and family services; respite; crisis services; education and after school support; specialty health services; and advocacy.

DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Leads clinical training initiatives for the department.
  • Conducts educational classes including but not limited to Trauma Informed Care, SCIP-R, CPR/First Aid, Partnering for Safety/TRUST, management training, and any other course work deemed necessary.
  • Coordinates internal and external learning opportunities including but not limited to scheduling, promotion, room reservation, room set up, technology needs, refreshments, and teaching or facilitation of the event.
  • Assists in coordinating and providing coverage for weekly new hire orientation and conducts trainings as needed.
  • Completes necessary reports as requested by the Director and submits within required timeframes.
  • Assists with the oversight of the online learning management system including but not limited to creating curricula, maintaining employee training records, and creating and generating educational compliance reports to the agency.
  • Attains and maintain certified instructor status in the main areas of certification including SCIP-R, CPR/First Aid, and MH Safety Trainings.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of new course curricula for both instructor-led and online trainings as deemed appropriate.
  • Provides expertise and support to the organization with educational regulations set forth by governing bodies including analysis of and assistance with the interpretation and integration of applicable regulations.
  • Provides observations and feedback for agency instructors to ensure the delivery of quality educational instruction.
  • Ensures that all required documentation (paper and electronic) is completed/processed appropriately, in a timely manner, and meets quality and compliance thresholds.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Meets all safety training requirements; adheres to all safety policies and reports any and all unsafe conditions; takes measures to prevent accidents and/or eliminate conditions that pose a safety or health risk.
  • Coordinates, supports, attends and participates in all required events/ meetings/ reviews/ committees, including ones outside of standard working hours.
  • Meets all job requirements and stays in compliance.
  • Adheres to FREE’s standard of ethical behavior as outlined in the Employee Handbook and Code of Conduct as well as applicable laws and regulations.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred
  • Experience:
    • At least 1 year in the Human Services field
    • Previous experience as a Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) or related clinical position preferred
    • Previous experience conducting trainings preferred
    • Previous experience with the Relias software preferred
  • Specialized Training, Licenses, Certifications:
    • Not required, training will be provided upon hire as needed
  • Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities:
    • Computer literacy, proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel required
    • Knowledge of OPWDD, OMH, DOH and OASAS regulations preferred
    • Must be efficient, well organized, and have excellent communication skills
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with flexibility, keeping others informed and anticipating needs is essential
  • Other Requirements:
    • Valid NYS Driver’s License and satisfy criteria to be a driver for FREE
    • Willingness to become SCIP-R, CPR/First Aid, and Partnering for Safety/TRUST certified, and certified to become an instructor

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role is performed in-person, some travel between FREE Network locations is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Employee is required to sit, walk and stand for prolonged period of time (at least 8 hours).
  • Employee is required to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Employee is required to operate standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, fax and filing cabinets.
  • Employee is required to reach with hands and arms.
  • Employee is required to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or stand on a stool as needed.
  • Employee is required to be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.

The Pay Range for this job is $55,500-$58,500. This range is based on what FREE reasonably believes it will pay an employee as for said position at the time of the posting. Individual compensation will ultimately be determined based on a variety of relevant factors, including, but not limited to, an individual’s experience, qualifications, services provided, geographic location, relevant skills, and other factors permitted under federal, state, and local laws.
