Job Title: DENTAL ASSISTANT I (Multiple Openings)

Salary: $17.60 to $24.50 (based on experience) comprehensive benefits (FT only)

Program Summary

The Family Practice & Counseling Network (FPCN) provides comprehensive primary care, dental and behavioral health services. The Network consists of three (3) federally qualified health centers (FQHC) in Philadelphia:

  • Abbottsford Falls Family Practice & Counseling (Northwest Philly);
  • Stephen & Sandra Sheller 11th Street Family Health Services of Drexel University (North Philly); and
  • Health Annex (Southwest).

Today the FPCN serves more than 20,000 patients annually and is a NCQA certified Patient-Centered Medical Home and recognized by HRSA as a National Quality Leader for Behavioral Health.

Position Summary

The Dental Assistant (DA) ensures quality care by providing a variety of services including patient care, office support, laboratory duties, and chair-side assistance to Dentists during the examination. All DA’s are expected to uphold the network’s mission of trauma informed care.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Prepare patients for dental procedure/treatment.
  • Prepares and maintains dental instruments, supplies, and equipment, including sterilization and delivery of such for the treatment area.
  • Collects and records patient health information thoroughly in the electronic health record (EHR) regarding all treatment plans and procedures completed.
  • Print x-rays, periodontal and full mouth charting from EHR for insurance preauthorization and billing for treatment.
  • Complete timely lab work to include the coordination of outgoing/incoming lab cases.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Education:

  • HS Diploma/GED
  • Graduate from an accredited Dental Assistant program
  • X –Ray Certification

Required Experience:

  • 3 years of Dental Assistant experience (preferred)

Required Qualifications:

  • Current CPR Certification
  • COVID Vaccinated
  • Hep B Vaccination

This currently does not include boosters.
