Job Description

Family Ark is a 501(c)(3) organization that provides human service programs. The Development Director provides primary oversight of accounting and financial activities of the agency. This position reports to the President/CEO.

Family Ark provides quality human service programs which promote positive change in the lives of children and families in the communities we serve. Our core values are compassion, empowerment, partnership, and hope.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manages all parts of Family Ark fundraising, community and corporate volunteer events with input and guidance from the President/CEO and in cooperation with other staff, volunteers and outside vendors.
  • Collaborate with the President/CEO to increase revenue streams to fund current administrative and programmatic costs.
  • Must be present at all fundraising and volunteer events.
  • Researches and provides oversight on all grant writing projects.
  • Collaborate with the President/CEO and Board of Directors to establish a clear fundraising plan to include success markers.
  • Works with the Development Committee of the Board to advocate and strengthen board engagement with fundraising.
  • Ensure the implementation of the fundraising plan.
  • Collaborates with the President/CEO, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Financial Officer to provide oversight of the use of grant funding and donations to ensure that all phases outlined in the original funding request and/or grant proposal are carried out in such a way as to maintain the integrity of the grant.
  • Assist with Federal Funding requests for Title IV-E and Title IV-B prompted by State of Indiana Requests for Proposals in accordance with state and federal regulations providing oversight and assistance with writing and coordinating the proposal phase.
  • Collaborate with program managers/supervisors with the update of agency brochures.
  • Reviews data on successful fund development practices to present to the President/CEO with the goal of identifying fundraising options on a bi-annual basis to inform the fundraising plan.
  • Coordinate fundraising activities to assure consistency within the larger scope of goals, strategic plans, the fundraising plan, and organizational structure.
  • Provide a monthly report to the President/CEO detailing progress toward identified success markers.
  • Participate in networking events to connect with representatives from the business community with the purpose of eliciting community partners with the larger goal of securing revenue streams for projects throughout the year.
  • Creates and distributes timely mailing enclosures and electronic communications. Creates and distributes the annual report and agency e-newsletters and press releases. Updates social media including Facebook and Twitter. Oversees and updates the Family Ark website. Responsible for obtaining photos needed for all publicity mediums.
  • Create and implement yearly PR plan and oversee all duties involved.
  • Develop and implement a brand strategy and campaign.
  • Oversee Lodge rentals and coordinate activities per event.
  • Create and implement annual volunteer management plan. Recruit and steward volunteers.
  • Manage yearly Development Internship in partnership with local colleges/universities.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Five years' experience employed in a Fundraising leadership role
  • Ability to assess and coordinate the fundraising needs for a dynamic social service agency
  • Ability to interact effectively with all people involved with Family Ark
  • Must be committed to quality performance and service excellence
  • Must have creative thinking and a positive, can-do attitude under pressure
  • Must maintain confidentiality of all agency and donor records
  • Strong computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook and database skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be detail oriented, organized and have excellent time management skills
  • Must be familiar with using and maintaining donor software
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Occasional weekend work may be needed
