Position Title: Patient Care Coordinator
Reports to: Lead Scheduler
POSITION SUMMARY: To coordinate all aspects of the registration process and to assist the Lead Scheduler in the daily operation of the center activities in accordance with Federal, State and surgery center policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS include the following: The required behaviors associated with the following competencies are outlined in the Competency Assessment form.

Standard III Practices human resource responsibility
Standard IV Demonstrates competence in performance of duties and responsibilities related to tasks, skills and procedures rendered to the clients served.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience/Licenses/Certificates/Eligibility: High School diploma or GED. Ability to type 40 wpm, use standard office equipment and be computer literate. Knowledge of medical terminology. Minimum one (1) year experience in computerized appointment scheduling preferred. Three to five (3-5) years experience as an administrative assistant in a surgical setting preferred. Current BCLS preferred.

Skills/Knowledge/Ability:
Interpersonal: Client oriented. Actively participates in the development of a healthy work environment. Uses interpersonal skills to establish and maintain healthy interpersonal relations, which include functional trust, positive feedback, and constructive criticism. Good communication skills: oral and written.
Critical Thinking: Above average ability to handle multiple simultaneous tasks and phone calls while maintaining a professional courteous demeanor. Must be able to handle patient confrontations in a positive manner. Ability to handle emergency situations and have the ability to develop triage skills. Above average ability to problem solve, solution and detail oriented.
Knowledge: Working knowledge of health care environment and patient processing with computerized scheduling software. Knowledge of outpatient surgery forms, policies and procedures.
MACHINE, EQUIPMENT, WORK AIDES: Computer, printer, copier, telephone and fax.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Subject to busy office requiring above average ability to prioritize and organize. Some overtime may be required.
