Purpose: Plans and directs the business, technical, nursing, clinical, and provider activities of multi-specialty clinics within assigned region through direct management of Clinic Managers. Develops and maintains close working relationships with Chiefs to ensure effective communication regarding clinical matters. Through the Clinic Managers directs and manages support, nursing and provider staff to ensure safe, quality, cost effective care provided in a standardized, reliable process. Carries out all duties while maintaining compliance and confidentiality, and promoting the mission and philosophy of the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for the implementation of clinic-specific customer service, human resource, and financial goals and objectives consistent with CMS and ARC strategic plan and goals.
  • Oversees clinic operations through direct supervision of clinic managers. Holds managers and their staffs accountable for achieving stated objectives.
  • Works effectively with other Clinic Operations Directors and the Chief Operating Officer to develop and implement consistent, sustainable business processes.
  • Performs analysis of business office functions, monthly expense and productivity reports and regular reports of revenue and profitability.
  • Participates in annual capital and operating budgets for assigned clinics and monitors/adjusts accordingly.
  • Performs budget analysis and assumes responsibility for explaining/justifying variances.
  • Using appropriate metrics and reports, analyzes and monitors staffing levels to ensure a cost-effective organizational structure which provides the necessary level of effective support for the medical practices.
  • Directs and manages projects for all assigned clinics.
  • Develops and/or implements clinic-specific policies, procedures, and programs and monitors adherence to system-wide policies/standardizations.
  • Through the Clinic Managers ensures competency of staff through development and regular evaluations.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction by analyzing customer complaints, concerns, and suggestions and providing appropriate follow-through.
  • Interacts with physicians on a regular basis to ensure their practice business needs are met. Develops close working relationships with all physicians in assigned region. Interacts with Chiefs on a regular basis to confer on a variety of clinical issues.
  • Ensures facility needs are addressed and problems corrected by the Clinic managers in order to provide a safe, comfortable environment for staff and patient care/service delivery.
  • Fosters and encourages a spirit of transparent cooperation and teamwork within and between all clinics and with other Operations staff. Maintains a constructive working relationship with other administrative departments.
  • Performs ongoing analysis of patient visits by clinic to identify barriers and opportunities to improve.
  • Responsible for the on-boarding of new physician providers to ensure their success.
  • Responsible for the on-boarding of new non physician providers (PA, NP) to ensure their success.
  • Responsible for the planning, education and implementation of companywide strategic initiatives.
  • Interacts with other members of the management team in a professional and goal oriented manner.
  • Adheres to all company policies, including but not limited to, OSHA, HIPAA, compliance and Code of Conduct.
  • Regular and dependable attendance.
  • Follows the core competencies set forth by the Company, which are available for review on CMSweb.
  • Works holiday shift(s) as required by Company policy.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field and four (4) or more years of experience managing a multi-specialty medical group or comparable position and experience to include supervision of staff OR high school diploma or equivalent and eight (8) or more years of experience managing a multi-specialty medical group or comparable position and experience to include supervision of staff.
  • Master’s degree in related field preferred.
  • Working experience within an Accountable Care Organization (ACO) strongly preferred. Experience working in an organization that utilizes an Electronic Medical Records system strongly preferred. 
  • Experience working in both an outpatient clinical setting and in a hospital system strongly preferred.
  • Proven proficiency in financial management, which includes comprehensive understanding of insurance plans as they relate to physician practice.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient PC skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Proven proficiency in financial management, which includes comprehensive understanding of insurance plans as they relate to physician practice.
  • Familiarity with laws and regulations related to healthcare delivery compliance
  • Knowledge of various medical insurance plans and billing practices
  • Knowledge of procedural and diagnostic coding
  • Knowledge of human resource fundamentals and underlying laws, i.e., FLSA, ADA, FMLA, etc.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data/reports
  • Ability to engage others, listen and adapt response to meet others’ needs.
  • Ability to align own actions with those of other team members committed to common goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to perform job duties in a professional manner at all times.
  • Ability to understand, recall, and communicate, factual information.
