Trissential is currently seeking a Data Engineer to join our client team in Minneapolis, MN. This position is a Remote role and only open to candidates who are eligible to work in the US and live/work within the United States.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a motivated and technically proficient Data Engineer to support the migration from Oracle Business Intelligence ("OBIEE") and Informatica to Snowflake and Power BI.

This role is essential to ensure the technical execution of our client's migration strategy is successful, data integrity is maintained, and our business objectives are met.

The Data Engineer will work closely with the Migration Lead to implement data processing solutions, manage data workflows, and support the team in leveraging new tools for data analysis and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Migration Lead to design and implement effective data migration strategies from OBIEE and Informatica to Snowflake and Power BI, ensuring technical precision and alignment with project goals.
  • Develop, test, and optimize ETL processes to efficiently move large datasets across platforms, focusing on automation and minimizing manual intervention.
  • Support the establishment of a technology architecture that includes batch and streaming data ingestion, using Databricks for data processing and ensuring scalable data storage in Snowflake.
  • Assist in data modeling, warehousing, and creating data governance protocols to ensure data accuracy, quality, and security.
  • Participate in developing training materials and providing technical support to users, facilitating a smooth transition to the new systems and promoting self-service capabilities.
  • Work with Alation for data cataloging, contributing to the maintenance of data governance and ensuring consistent use of data across the organization.
  • Monitor system performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement solutions to enhance data processing and analysis capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a related field. Advanced degrees are a plus.
  • Solid data engineering experience, specific expertise in Snowflake and Power BI, and a strong understanding of data warehousing and ETL processes.
  • Proficiency in ETL tools such as Informatica Power Center and DataStage, and experience with RDBMS like MS SQL Server and Oracle.
  • Demonstrated ability in scripting languages (e.g., Python, UNIX Shell scripting) for automation of data processes.
  • Familiarity with data governance tools (e.g., Alation) and BI tools (e.g., QlikView) is advantageous.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Agile methodology experience is preferred, with a proactive approach to project management and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Benefits

Trissential offers a competitive hourly rate for the Data Engineer, ranging between $45 to $60 per hour on a full time (40 hours per week) basis. Full time employees are eligible for a full package of benefits including company sponsored health care, accrued paid time away from work, and 401k with matching.
