JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Director of Construction and Maintenance

Immediate Supervisor: COO

Employees Supervised: 0-5 employees

FLSA Status:Exempt

Job Purpose

The Director of Construction and Maintenance will play a crucial role in overseeing all aspects of facilities maintenance, construction, and expansion projects for our organization. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction management, with a proven track record of success in managing construction projects efficiently, effectively, and within budget. Licensed or former licensed general contractor in Clark County is a plus. Essential Job Functions

  1. 1. Oversee all construction projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

  1. 2. Collaborate closely with the operations teams to understand project requirements and goals, and to ensure seamless coordination between construction activities and operation needs.

  1. 3. Manage and allocate resources effectively to maximize efficiency and productivity on construction sites.

  1. 4. Develop and maintain strong relationships with contractors, vendors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.

  1. 5. Implement cost-effective strategies to manage construction budgets, including negotiating contracts, monitoring expenses, and identifying areas of cost savings.

  1. 6. Conduct regular inspections and assessments of facilities to identify maintenance needs and prioritize repairs and improvements.

  1. 7. Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to prolong the lifespan of equipment and facilities.

  1. 8. Lead and mentor a team of construction and maintenance professionals, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.

  1. 9. Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to construction and facilities management.

  1. 10.Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on project status, budget performance, and key metrics.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of current construction processes, building codes, and safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of Project Management principles.
  • Advanced knowledge of building products, and construction details.

Skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related construction management software.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively. communicate with diverse stakeholders and manage relationships with contractors, vendors, and internal teams.

  • Use of logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problem.
  • Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Understand the implications of added information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction management, with a proven record of accomplishment of successfully managing construction projects of varying sizes and complexities.
  • Experience as a licensed general contractor is a plus.
  • OSHA 30 Preferred.

Work Environment

May be exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable. Work is typically performed in an office environment while sitting at a computer screen for extended periods. Requires contact with others (face-to-face, by telephone or otherwise), repeating the same physical activities or mental activities over and over. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, crouch, or kneel when working with files. Requires making decisions without supervision, freedom to determine tasks, priorities, and goals,being exact or highly accurate,meeting strict deadlines,working with donors, prospects, and the publicRequires work with others in a group or team,coordinating or leading others in accomplishing work activities, includes responsibility for work outcomes and results. May work hours during the evening and on weekends.
