Excel Engineering, Inc. is seeking a team-oriented, highly motivated individual for a Utility Construction Manager. This role will help support our Power Utility client.

Primary Responsibilities

Responsible for oversight and coordination of Electrical Transmission and/or Substation construction projects. Responsible for the coordination and completion of projects, projects that are small to moderate in scope, risk, and/or organizational span, including subprojects of larger, more complex projects.

• Manages multiple projects and orchestrates the results to achieve a broad program goal.
• Plans and implements schedules and monitors program from inception through delivery ensuring all deadlines are met.
• Defines and reports program status, development issues and success metrics. Identifies and monitors areas of risk.
• Continuously seeks opportunities to improve cost, performance, and schedule.
• Manages project budgets.
• Facilitates communication and coordination among projects.
• Manages stakeholder engagement and satisfaction.
• Maintains awareness of trends, business conditions and internal process and practices impacting component projects or overall program.
• Adheres to standard project management methodologies and reporting techniques.

Requirements

Experience

• Minimum of (10) or more years’ experience in Construction Engineering or Construction Management related to Electric Utility Systems.
• Experience in Transmission line and/or substation construction and related safety procedures.

Education

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical, Civil or Construction Engineering or Construction Management from an ABET accredited institution or equivalent experience is required.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 Scale.

Skills Applicable to the Role

• Experience in Transmission line and/or substation construction and related safety procedures.
• Experience with ArcGIS
• Excellent oral and written communications.
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and leadership skills.
• Excellent project planning, judgment, decision-making, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
• Expert knowledge of MS Project, Excel, MS Word, and Visio.

Preferred Qualifications

• Grading construction.
• Storm water permit compliance.
• Foundation construction.
• HV electrical substation construction.
• Control, Protection, and SCADA systems.
• Teamwork mentality
