Excel Engineering, Inc. is seeking a team-oriented, highly motivated and experienced Payroll and Accounting Specialist for our Mounds View, MN office. Our specialist position will provide accounting and administrative support for our engineering project business and our client workforce teams. The ideal candidate is organized, flexible with time and priorities, detail-oriented, and trustworthy handling confidential and sensitive information. Responsibilities include duties in the following areas: Accounting, Human Resources, Office Administration and Staff Augmentation Operations. Primary Responsibilities
Payroll and HR
- Review timesheets for coding and rate accuracy
- Verify hours worked, paid time off, deductions and pay adjustments
- Process semi-monthly payroll
- Reconcile payroll discrepancies by investigating and resolving issues or errors
- Generate payroll reports
- Set up and maintain PTO accrual and employee data records, including benefit deductions
- Assist with new employee onboarding
- Stay up-to-date with changes in payroll regulations and laws to ensure compliance
Accounting
- Project billing, reporting and archiving
- Accounts payable: entry of vendor invoices
- Accounts receivable: submit invoices through client portals and collections calls as needed
Office Management
- Assist admin team with greeting clients, answering phone calls, and receiving deliveries
- Maintain and order office supplies
- Prepare packages for mailing/shipping
- Firm licensing and State registrations
- Assist with planning and organizing company events
Requirements
Qualifications
- Two-year degree in accounting, finance or related field
- Minimum of two years working in an office environment with payroll or accounting experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word and Outlook
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and mathematical skills
- Effective task management and ability to handle a variety of duties while meeting deadlines
- Experience with Deltek VantagePoint a plus
