Evergreen Public Schools is Hiring a School Speech Language Pathologist (6171 Sped) Near Vancouver, WA

2024 - 2025 School Year

1.0 FTE

This position will remain open until a qualified applicant is selected. The earliest date a recommendation for hire may be submitted is after 04/16/2024.

This is a Continuing Position.

Evergreen Public Schools (EPS) offers the following to eligible employees who work at least 630 hours in a school year:

Certificated positions may have additional pay provisions above what is represented on the salary schedule such as, but not limited to TRI pay, In-Service days, and Extended Contracts, all in accordance with the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) as negotiated.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Participate as a member of a building team in the assessment and evaluation of students.
  • Conduct diagnostic speech/language and communication assessments, identify needs, prepare therapy plans and participate in eligibility and IEP conferences.
  • Based upon student assessment, develop and implement Individualized Education Plans.
  • Provide therapeutic services to students with identified Communication Disorders, including case management for communication disordered only students.
  • Work collaboratively with special education and general education teams in developing and delivering speech-language services to support communication skills relevant to educational performance.
  • Monitor student's progress in therapy and generate progress reports and complete Medicaid electronic logs for eligible students.
  • Consult and communicate with other professionals and students' families regarding the needs of students.
  • Work effectively and cooperatively with parents, teachers, administrators, support staff, and community.
  • Understand and use a variety of assistive technologies and programs.
  • Understand and use a variety of augmentative communication devices and programs
  • Participate in personal ongoing professional development.
  • Maintain student records and confidentiality.
  • Participate in State, Federal and District testing requirements. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters Degree in speech pathology and valid Washington ESA certification as an SLP.
  • Eligible for Department of Health license as an SLP.
  • Understanding of current State and Federal laws pertaining to the education of students with disabilities.
  • Must have regular, consistent attendance.
  • Preferred training and/or experience in instructional and management strategies to include:
    • Personalized Learning o Use of educational and assistive technology o Knowledge of classroom and individual student behavior management techniques.
    • Experience and training in CPI nonviolent crisis intervention techniques or equivalent process.
    • Experience using the IEP-Online system.
    • Training and/or experience in instructional and/or management strategies in positive behavioral supports, Collaborative Problem Solving, TEACCH, ABA, visual systems/learning, assistive technology, social thinking, social emotional learning, curriculum adaptations, social skills instruction, Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECS).
    • Professional Learning Communities.
    • Work Shop Model.
  • Preferred experience in working with children and families who are culturally, linguistically, and racially diverse.
  • Physical capability to respond to student in order to maintain a safe and supportive school environment.
  • Demonstrated competency with data tracking systems, IEP Development using computer supports such as Excel, Word, etc.
  • Must be flexible, exhibit a commitment to accomplishment, possess outstanding communication and conceptual skills, demonstrate appropriate and positive student relationships, possess a strong professional orientation, and be willing to actively participate in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize caseloads.
  • Demonstrated awareness, appreciation and respect of diversity among students and adults.
