Job Summary: Local Delivery Driver / Shipping & Receiving Helper
The Local Delivery Driver / Shipping & Receiving Helper must maintain a perfect driving record. Local deliveries are scheduled on specific days for best efficiency. Between deliveries or on non-driving days the helper will record incoming and outgoing shipments. Prepare items for shipping by performing duties to quality and productivity standards. Operates lift trucks or hand trucks to convey or move materials to proper departments or areas.
The shipping and receiving helper are a member of the Production Team, and is accountable for:
· Meeting department production and quality goals as well as providing value to our customers.
· Playing a key role in meeting the company wide profitability and customer satisfaction goals
· Contributing to a work environment that fosters pride in being part of a winning team and promotes personal growth.
· Following systems and procedures outlined in the company manuals, procedures and work instructions.
· Complying with all OSHA safety requirements
Responsibilities and Duties:
General and Administrative
· Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor that reflects the company’s commitment to quality, continuous improvement and respect for individuals.
· Coordinate with Production Team to produce and prioritize jobs and, when necessary, reorganize to meet deadline changes and updates.
· Participate as a key player in the Production Team by supporting operations as needed.
· Communicate effectively with the Shipping, Plant and Bindery Managers and the production team, informing and updating them regularly to guarantee that sales objectives and customer objectives are met.
Shipping/Receiving Operations
· Responsible for routing outbound freight to assure delivery as required.
· Coordinates with Production team to prioritize jobs.
· Coordinate with production and management to ensure that all jobs are shipped out accurately and on time.
· Maintains shipping and receiving documents and maintains files of shipping records. Verifies freight bills before forwarding to accounting.
· Takes finished orders after final quality control inspection and wraps and packs in containers as per required standards. Prepares packing lists, bills of lading, and other shipping documentation as necessary.
· Supervises loading and unloading of all delivery trucks. Assures compliance with workplace safety procedures. Limits access to loading docks by unauthorized individuals
· Receives and inspects external packaging of all incoming shipments. Notifies delivery personnel of any apparent shipping damage and proceeds accordingly. Reviews incoming packing lists and logs and routes to receiving inspection area.
· Maintain on hand quantities of cartons, slip sheets pallets, etc.
· Maintain daily equipment checklists and inform supervisor if equipment problems.
· Performs other shipping/receiving duties, as requested.
Transportation Operations.
· Follow daily delivery and pick-up schedule
· Remain flexible to restructure schedule as needed
· Drive vehicle to and from destinations, adhering to all traffic laws.
· Load and unload delivery goods
Equipment Maintenance
· Maintain vehicle in good working condition
· Maintain vehicle in clean and fueled readiness condition
· Inform supervisor of any vehicle problems
Required Qualifications
· Perfect driving record
· Legal ability to work in the United States
· High school diploma/GED with experience, vocational/technical certification, or equivalent work experience/on the job training
· Possess a valid driver’s license and a good motor vehicle record
· Minimum CDL Class B
· Excellent driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws

· Standing for prolonged periods of time - up to 8 hours or more per day
