Who We Are:

Fund for the Public Interest is seeking hard-working individuals with good communication skills and a passion for social change to fill citizen outreach and field manager positions across the country this summer. With offices in selected cities across the country this summer, we are hiring full-time staff, with leadership opportunities available, to work on issues like stopping plastic pollution, saving old growth forests, and moving towards a 100% clean energy future.

This summer in our DC office, we’re working to save our oldest trees. Our old-growth and mature trees and forests are critical allies in the fight against climate change—one that we lose the moment we cut them down. This year, we have an opportunity to take a huge first step and protect all of the old-growth forests in the national forest system from logging. Thanks to direction from President Biden, the Forest Service has proposed a plan to change the way they manage old-growth. We have until the end of August to show the Biden administration that the American public believes that our oldest forests are worth more standing, so we’re hiring staff to build support this summer.

As a canvasser you will:

• Educate and engage citizens, build support and fundraise on pressing issues
• Get experience with the leadership and communication skills and connections needed to launch your career
• Build membership and raise money for environmental and social change groups

Pay:

Staff earn on average $15-$28/hour based on location and performance. you have a base pay between $15-$18, plus you can earn 20% of what you raise over our minimum standard, which means staff often have the opportunity to earn over $20 an hour. Staff never earn less than minimum wage for the hours that they work. So, depending on performance and location, you could earn an average of between $15 to $28 per hour.
