Job Description
Summary
Plans, develops and implements new and revised compensation and benefits programs, policies, and procedures in order to be responsive to the company's goals and competitive practices. Assures through audits, reports and other processes/interactions that company compensation and benefits programs are consistently administered in compliance with company policies and government regulations. Provides analysis and suggestions for meaningful compensation and benefits strategies to attract and retain a high performing workforce.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Compensation
  • Oversees the administration of compensation, incentive, and equity programs including the processing, recording, and reporting of compensation-related actions taken.
  • Design, recommend, and implement new compensation programs and determine cost impact.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of existing compensation policies, guidelines and procedures, recommending plan revisions as well as new plans that are cost effective and consistent with compensation trends and company objectives.
  • Provides advice to company management on pay decisions, job evaluation, and policy and guideline interpretation, including the design of creative solutions to specific compensation-related issues and challenges.
  • Recommends market increases and coordinates implementation of new plans and procedures as needed.
  • Oversees and manages the equity-based grants and awards processes.
  • Participates in the preparation of materials for the Compensation Committee.
  • Develops techniques for compiling, preparing and presenting compensation-related data.
  • Reviews and consults on efficacy of incentive plans.
  • Leads the development of administrative procedures for compensation processes.
  • Manages and serves as primary contact for compensation programs and systems vendors and administrators.
  • Identify compensation program audits. Audit the accuracy and performance of functions performed by the Compensation staff.
  • Keeps apprised of and ensures company compliance with federal, state and local compensation laws and regulations.
Benefits
  • Oversees the administration of benefit programs including the processing, recording, and reporting of benefit-related actions taken.
  • Design, recommend and implement new benefits programs and determine cost impact.
  • Analyze current benefits, evaluating the use, services, coverage, effectiveness, cost, plan experience and competitive trends in benefits programs, and identify the company's stance.
  • Monitor administrative costs of benefits programs and recommend cost containment strategies, including alternative methods for administration and funding. Prepare budget recommendations and assist in the monitoring, verifying and reconciling of budgeted funds.
  • Research employee benefits plans and vendors to identify those that present the best value.
  • Design and distribute materials for benefits orientations, open enrollment and summary plan descriptions and provide training and support.
  • May negotiate with vendors and administrators for best plans, options and rates.
  • Serve as primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators.
  • Coordinate transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums and plan administration.
  • Evaluate and revise internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
  • Leads the development of administrative procedures for benefit processes.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of required reporting and fees.
  • Audit the accuracy and performance of functions performed by the Benefits staff.
  • Perform plan audits including prepare, collect and organize data.
  • Provide customer service support to internal and external customers. Develop communication tools to enhance understanding of the company's compensation and benefits packages.
  • Coordinates compensation and benefits integration for mergers and acquisitions.
  • Develop communication tools to enhance understanding of compensation and benefits programs and the total compensation package.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe, secure and legal work environment, developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Accomplish staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
  • Mentor and coach direct reports within the team to help develop them for future roles and provide proper succession.
  • Manage performance of the team and conduct performance reviews within the processes of the Bank.
Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Business or Human Resources
  • Five to eight years of Compensation and/or Benefits Program Management or 10 years relevant HR Business Partner experience, including analysis, design and administration of salary and incentive/bonus, and benefit programs.
Computer and Software Skills
  • Skilled in operation of a personal computer, including:
    • Microsoft Office
    • Google Suite
    • Workday
