Job Summary :

The Development Portfolio Manager is responsible for assisting the Director of Development with all activities related to private, public and foundation grant prospecting, grant writing, grant submission, and grant continuation including but not limited to management of the grants calendar, organizing & submitting reports to funders, and relationship development for existing grants. The candidate will be responsible for pre- and post-award grant management activities, including financial and administrative analysis and planning for privately funded grants. The candidate will serve as project manager to implement a variety of strategy and development related organizational goals, in addition to supporting the Development Team in major gift cultivation and event planning and management.

Reports to : Director of Development

Accountable to: Coordinator, Director of Finance, Director of Evaluation, and Deputy Director of Programs, Co-Executive Directors

Communicates with: Program team staff, Evaluation team staff, Enlace staff that engage with the grants-based development process, Partners that engage with Enlace’s grants-based development process

Informs: Other Enlace staff as needed

Status: Full-time

Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategy Implementation

  • Study and understand the history, structure, objectives, programs and financial needs of the organization.
  • Implement the fundraising strategy provided by the Director of Development.
  • Develop and support additional development best practices.

Development Department Management

  • Coordinate with internal departments on specific grant deliverables, proposal content, and reporting.
  • Supporting most day-to-day communication with partnerships and deliverables execution.
  • Ensures key fundraising best practices are followed, and key tracking and reporting benchmarks are achieved.
  • Attend relevant team and organizational meetings including, when necessary, those related to grant implementation.
  • Manage the grant acknowledgement process.

Planning and Project Management:

  • Assist in executing the overall strategy of the Enlace fundraising team.
  • Focus on engaging in overall development activities including supporting the team in the creation and maintenance of the regular development calendar and renewal of the current portfolio.
  • Serve as a point person for the Enlace Development team to Program teams with regular communication on partner needs, deliverables, and support.
  • Research public/private grant opportunities.
  • Draft grant proposals and supporting documents based on the funding requirements of the organization.
  • Submit proposals to the Director of Development, Deputy Director of Programs, Program Directors, and Co-Executive Directors for approval.
  • Respond to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposals.
  • Maintain records and submit reports related to grant opportunities.
  • Manage the grant calendar associated with the grant portfolio of the Private Fundraising Manager.
  • Store usernames and passwords for online funder portals and ensure that basic information about the organization is kept up-to-date in these portals.

Relationship Management:

  • Maintain productive relationships with all intra-organizational departments, including Finance, Program, and Evaluation departments.
  • Maintain positive relationships with fund providers and other stakeholders.

Stakeholder Event Management:

  • Supports the Enlace Development team in strategizing and coordinating stakeholder engagement events and site visits.

Reporting:

  • Conduct and support financial reporting for grant management implementation in partnership with the Director of Development, Director of Finance and Institutional Giving Coordinator.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • A bachelor's degree and 3 plus years of development experience.
  • Experience with successful grant procurement, proposal writing, grant writing, and management of grants submission.
  • Strong knowledge and exhibited practice of fundraising information sources.
  • Extensive knowledge of fundraising techniques and strategies.
  • Connection to the Little Village community is preferred.
  • Ability to speak/write/read in English/Spanish is preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to write compelling, evidence-based grant proposals.
  • Strong administrative and project management skills.
  • Quantitative skills required to work with spreadsheets and produce reports.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, multi-task, manage deadlines, and work independently.
  • Experience working in a multicultural, fast-paced setting.
  • Ability to strongly embrace and personify the mission of Enlace Chicago.
  • Ability to collaborate and interact with a diverse group of program management and direct service professionals.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

COMPENSATION: Salary range for this position is 65-70k based upon experience; comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, life, and short and long-term disability insurances, 403b retirement options.
