ENERGYX is Hiring a Director or VP of Business Development & Land Management Near Austin, TX

EnergyX is currently seeking a Director or VP of Business Development & Land Management to join its Leadership Team as the company expands its portfolio of Lithium Brine assets and progresses commercial Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) operations. Portfolio growth is currently focused on Chile, Argentina and the U.S. This position will report directly to the President of EnergyX.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee a small team with responsibility for all aspects of land and mineral rights acquisition in support of EnergyX’s growing lithium brine asset portfolio. Work closely with legal, the Commercial Team, and Subsurface Asset Development Team to prioritize acquisition opportunities and optimize asset development programs. Oversee 3rd party services supporting land and minerals acquisition opportunities. Be proactive in leading effective negotiation tactics and strategies, finding and developing prospective opportunities for Company participation, and improving operating efficiencies and productivity related to land matters.

Determine title to prospective lands, availability for leasing, and applicable regulatory guidelines. Conduct diligence to confirm title and where necessary, obtain title opinions for lands/mineral rights to be acquired and ensuring any necessary title curative is performed. Obtain necessary regulatory orders and approvals relating to drilling or producing wells or forced pooling/acquisition of interests. Negotiate, draft, and consummate with legal all necessary agreements with third-party participants to ensure payment of costs and proper application of royalties are applied. Coordinate with finance and legal to ensure acquired interests are accurately set up in the system for maintenance and accounting.

This leadership position will have a heavy externally facing role as it coordinates closely with the VP Government affairs as they represent the company with landowners, community associations, regulatory bodies, and other local stakeholders. 

Qualifications

  • 12 - 15 years of Oil & Gas Industry Landman Experience (or similar). Experience working both Subsurface and Surface land related matters are required.
  • Experience within the Smackover (preferred, but not required).
  • Understanding of the Lithium market and players (preferred, but not required).
  • Strong negotiations skills and creative deal maker via exploration of alternatives and options.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Anticipates potential challenges, remains resilient, proactively explores alternatives and drives towards and solutions.
  • Very strong communication and collaboration skills which support effective teaming within the company and enables strong professional partnerships and connectivity outside of the company. Effective listener and ability to ask insightful and strategic questions to gain needed information.
  • Bachelors Degree in Petroleum Land Management, Energy Management, Business Administration, Law, or a related discipline.
