We are looking to add a Service Battery & Charger Technician to our team!

The Service Battery & Charter Technician (hereafter referred to as the Service Tech or Service Technician) shall be responsible to excellent customer service and timely communication on repairs relative to battery and charger repairs.

The Service Technician shall:

• Work on-site at the shop.
• Work in the field at customer locations.
• Shall have a valid Michigan Driver’s License.
• Driver’s License shall be in good standing, not revoked and have no limitations, with minimal to no points during the entire course of employment.
• Learn how to do basic repairs on utility or industrial vehicles.
• Have, or develop, a solid working knowledge of AC and DC power.
• Be competent using a voltmeter.
• Will test batteries and record results.
• Will do acid adjustments on battery cells.
• Install battery monitoring devices.
• Be comfortable with drills, saws and other industrial hand tools.
• Be comfortable working around heavy machinery (forklifts and industrial vehicles).
• Be comfortable using an overhead hoist.
• Be confident in their abilities to handle field repairs, sometimes having limited space or resources based upon the customer’s location.
• Be motivated to help our company be recognized as the best in the industry by showing up every day, on-time, and with a good attitude.
• Understand functioning and testing of electrical components (diodes, resistors, contactors, batteries and electric motors).
• Have experience towing trailer or willing to do learn to do so
• Be willing to obtain a chauffeur's license
• Have electrical experience with various speed control systems
• Perform basic math skills and solve simple equations
• Be comfortable using a computer (experience with spreadsheets a plus)
• Learn how to safely diagnose and repair battery chargers.
• Lift truck & Warehouse experience helpful
• Other duties as assigned

Hard Skills:

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude and will likely have experience with gas and electric motors, wiring, and understand general mechanics of an industrial or motor vehicle. This role will require use and fluency with a wide variety of power tools.

Soft Skills:

The successful candidate will demonstrate fluency with tact and diplomacy in handling sensitive or difficult conversations at all levels. Your approach with people should be skillful and develop positive relationships. You will need to be able to voice your opinion and openly discuss challenges but will need to do so in a collaborative manner and be willing to accept final decisions that may be different than your recommendation. The ability to have a discussion, have a difference of opinion, and move forward with a positive attitude will be key. This role is expected to contribute to a positive work environment and culture.
