Job Summary

Encino Energy is seeking to hire an experienced Landman to support development of assets in the Utica Basin. The position will report to the Land Supervisor and have a broad scope of responsibilities will include the facilitation of all land-related activity within a multi-discipline team. Some flexibility in title depending on selected candidates experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist maintenance of Encino Energy’s interests in minerals, mineral leases, and existing land position
• Work with land brokers hired to obtain or extend leases, perform court house work or title due diligence, and curative
• Perform in-house title information gathering, organize and analyze title documents to assess rights information, and perform internal title updates
• Design, procure, manage, examine, and approve title opinions for drilling and division order purposes
• Help draft, negotiate, review, and amend agreements (including but not limited to mineral leases, farm-outs, joint-operating, participation, unit, confidentiality, conveyances, assignments, and other contracts)
• Manage and negotiate land-related issues with and respond to inquiries from landowners, partners, lessees, working interest owners, surface occupants, and other third parties
• Assist in research of relevant land issues and provide advice to corporate personnel through both direct interaction, written memoranda, and opinions
• Follow existing land procedures and assist in implementing new procedures, as needed
• Work with Land Administration to maintain land records and calculate, review, and approve divisions of interest and AFE’s
• Develop and maintain extensive industry contacts

Requirements

Qualifications

• Proficient MS Office software applications and land-related data management software
• Working knowledge of all aspects of onshore oil and gas land operations
• Highly organized, resourceful, and efficient self-starter with the ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision, setting priorities, and interfacing with others
• Team player with strong interpersonal skills, ability to think creatively in solving business problems, self-discipline, and strong worth ethic
• Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills with accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Understanding of regulatory and legal issues
• Leadership, poise, and integrity
• Must be aware of real estate law, manners, and mineral rights

Education

Bachelor’s degree in energy management or another relevant field required.

A minimum of 5 years of experience in an Oil & Gas, Land, or Land position with a broad knowledge and understanding of the Oil & Gas and Exploration / Production industry. Direct experience in Ohio Appalachian Basin preferred.

Travel Requirements

The percentage of travel anticipated for this position is 10 – 20%, including overnight extended stays.

Work Environment

This job is predominately located in a professional office environment with occasional travel to the field operations. 

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position. Encino has a compressed work week with a “4/9/4” Work Schedule. Employees have the option to work four nine-hour days with the addition of four hours each Friday. Some flexibility in hours is allowed.
