Role Description

As part of our A&D Team, our Geologists dive into evaluating new project acquisitions in top energy hotspots like the Permian, Powder River, Eagle Ford, and Haynesville. From conducting industry deal screenings to crafting meticulous project evaluations, this position plays a key role behind our strategic acquisitions, both operated and non-operated, and shaping our prospect inventory. 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all the geological aspects of prospect evaluations, subsurface/formation evaluations, well planning, and relevant drilling & completions activities.
  • Integrate geological interpretation, mapping, petrophysical data analysis and reservoir characterization to identify and evaluate potential target windows and drilling locations across existing assets and potential acquisition opportunities across multiple basins
  • Targeting of horizontal wells across multiple basins & landing zone analysis
  • QC existing structural grids and expand structural framework across multiple surfaces
  • Oversight and coordination of third-party geosteering or related operational activities
  • Monitor day-to-day drilling operations of rigs.
  • Provide well planning support including geologic prognosis, well logging programs, along with analysis and mitigating of potential geohazards to operations team
  • Identification of bolt-on acreage and acquisition opportunities to grow existing areas of development.
  • Quantify and confirm the potential for future drilling locations for various deal evaluations
  • Evaluate industry generated prospects, as well as potential acquisition and divestiture opportunities utilizing subsurface data and maps such as structure, isopach, cross sections, OOIP etc.
  • Monitor and analyze performance from recent well results and offset competitor activity
  • Effectively communicate technical information and recommendations to the team
  • Provide guidance to reservoir engineering regarding geologic drivers of well productivity that may affect type curve generation
  • Provide technical support as needed to other team such as finance, land, and operations
  • Collaborate with other Geologists and Engineers on the A&D team
  • Stay up to date on current industry trends across a wide variety of conventional and unconventional hydrocarbon basins
  • Enhance the subsurface technical understanding of the team across multiple basins, unconventional plays and horizontal well development strategies

Qualifications

  • High level of dependability, dedication, initiative, energy, creativity, interpersonal skills, adaptability, and an ability to work with limited supervision as well as effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Self-motivated individual capable of working in a fast-paced environment than can manage multiple, changing priorities, meet tight deadlines and handle substantial workloads for extended periods. 
  • Detail oriented with exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to quickly construct regional and field-scale maps and cross sections to characterize and illustrate subsurface concepts
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal & written).
  • Ability to efficiently learn and adapt new skills and workflows in a fast-paced environment.

Education & Experience

  • M.S. Degree in Geology
  • Minimum 10 years E&P experience with technical roles & responsibilities including development, well planning and or operations
  • Permian Basin experience necessary. Multi-basin experience a plus
  • Asset/deal valuation experience with an A&D group or operator
  • Proficient with Petra and/or Kingdom or similar integrated geoscience platform.
  • Experience in field development planning of unconventional assets including technical and economic analysis of spacing, targeting, and sequencing across multiple basins
  • Working knowledge of petrophysical analysis and interpretation along with mapping and well log correlation.
