The Communication and Network Systems Department provides vital IT infrastructure services for Sandia/California. These services include network access and routing, network security, telecommunications, critical service monitoring, custom network engineering, and various security services. The multi-layer networking infrastructure utilizes the latest technology specializing in high-speed communications and advanced infrastructure management. The telecommunications service ranges from managing hundreds of miles of inside and outside cable plant to working with network service providers to bring external connectivity to Sandia/California. Various security programs provide the assurance that all aspects of our California site are managed appropriately. The organization's responsibility includes oversight of the entire lifecycle of design, implementation, maintenance, and customer service for each element of our business. Emphasis is placed on cost effectiveness, reliable services, innovative solutions, and teamwork. Maintain fiber and copper cable plant
Perform inside plant wire pulls, terminations, testing, etc.
Perform outside plant optical fiber pulls, confined space entry, terminations, testing
Organize and maintain wiring closets, intermediate distribution rooms, and data centers
Running patch cables, mounting hardware, following appropriate data center standards
Working from a ticket queue for phone installation tasks
Other duties as assigned by the customer.
Responsible for telecom planning activities
Participate in telecom projects
Ensure completion of telecom tasks and project initiatives
Ability to obtain & maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance
At least 3 years’ experience in related duties
Associate degree in STEM field or 3 years’ additional relevant experience in lieu of degree
