EMSL is currently seeking a Microbiologist I specializing in Direct Microscopyin Cinnaminson, NJ. This role will encompass preparation and analysis for environmental microbiology samples.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Preparation and analysis of a variety of environmental samples for analysis by direct microscopy
Reading and identifying fungi in spore trap and tape samples using optical microscopy
Experience with fungi ID is a plus
Maintaining QA/QC and company policy
Perform standard and non-standard laboratory procedures including fungi spore analysis (spore traps and direct examinations)
Record data in a specific manner
Working on special project as assigned, some clerical work involved, and data entry
Maintain and troubleshoot equipment and lab clean-up
Requirements:
Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree is preferred, but not required.
One to two years environmental microbiology
Ability to work with microscopes, analytical balances, biological safety cabinets, and learn good lab practices
College level course in Statistics or quality assurance is a plus
Experience with spore traps, direct microscopic exam, bacteriology, mycology is desired
Must be able to distinguish colors in order to perform the analysis
Good computer skills are important for data entry tasks
Attention to detail and be willing to learn analytical skills
Ability to work independently and within a team
Ability to work under strict timelines in order to and meet our clients’ deadlines
Available Shift:
Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
