Under the close supervision of an Employment Program Manager I and the direct guidance of an Employment Program Representative, as the YEOP mentor, and after on-the-job training, student assistants will provide services to youth designated as at-risk. Student assistants will: case manage clients through peer advising, refer clients to training, education providers, and supportive services, provide educational guidance and career awareness, provide employment preparation assistance and job referrals, conduct YEOP workshops and outreach, present YEOP services to the local community, schools, community based organizations (CBO), partner and employer groups to recruit clients, promote the program, and solicit support. The Student assistant will ensure that all clients are registered in CalJOBS and that program services provided are recorded in CalJOBS. The student assistant will maintain client case folders by adhering to guidelines in the YEOP manual.
For continuance of appointment, student assistants must be between the ages of 15-25, and enrolled and registered in an accredited college or university.
Work shift will be around class schedule.
This position may work up to 1,500 hours in a 12 consecutive month period.
Per the Governor's Office of California, the Employment Development Department is considered an essential department. This position requires local in-person workload, though some telework may be available. This position's office follows the recommended safety guidance from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and the Center of Disease Control (CDC).
Travel may be required with this position.

Students who are Youth Employment Opportunity Program (YEOP) eligible must be between the ages of 15 and 25, have a desire to help other youth, and are currently enrolled in at least six (6) semester units or the equivalent of college courses at an accredited college or university, with a GPA of 2.0 or higher may apply for this position. Background Investigation Requirement
The position(s) may require an applicant to pass a background investigation. However, applicants will not be asked to provide information about a conviction history unless they receive a conditional offer of employment.
