The Welcome Center Assistant is responsible for supporting and maintaining an atmosphere of hospitality and comfort for all visitors to the Empath Health community service centers. He/she works in the collaboration with the staff at South County Service Center and under the supervision of the Manager of Volunteer Services.

Education and/or Experience:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Five (5) years experience providing direct customer service preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and compassionately with various publics.
• Excellent demonstration of verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently.
• Must have reliable transportation which will enable them to perform tasks and responsibilities in a timely and appropriate fashion. Must be able to provide proof of automobile insurance, a copy of which will be placed in their employee file.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Under the guidance of the Manager of Volunteer Services, trains, schedules and supports the Welcome Center volunteers at the South County Service Center in providing excellent customer service, creating an environment of hospitality and comfort to all Welcome Center visitors.
• Mans welcome center desk full time, utilizing volunteers for relief coverage and during times of high/increased needs.
• Serves as point of contact for Welcome Center inquiries.
• Maintains and updates Welcome Desk manual.
• Enters volunteer time into Volgistics database.
• Work with the Center for Community to ensure Empath Health materials are available in designated areas.
• Assists in receipt of monetary and in-kind donations from individuals coming to the Welcome Centers.
• Receives small deliveries and notifies staff of their arrival.
• Assists staff with administrative tasks and special projects as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
