Elm Terrace Gardens is Hiring a Personal Care Aide Near Lansdale, PA

Description

Purpose

To perform non-professional direct resident care duties under the supervision of the Personal Care Coordinator; and to assist in 

maintaining a positive physical, social, and psychological environment for residents in the Personal Care Facility. To perform these

 duties in accordance with applicable current regulations and standards governing personal care facilities; and to perform these 

duties in accordance with the mission of Elm Terrace Gardens to promote the health and well-being of individual residents based on their functional abilities and potential.

Hours are 7a-7p or 7p-7a, part time and full time available.

Resident Care Functions - Duties

1 Assist residents with personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, and care of clothes, hair grooming and shampooing, oral care, shaving and nail care.

2 Assist residents with tasks of daily living as directed by the Personal Care Coordinator, including securing transportation, making and keeping appointments, arrange shopping, use of the telephone, correspondence, personal laundry, social and leisure activities, securing health care, ambulation, use of prosthetic devices, 

3 Provide resident care functions as directed by the Personal Care Coordinator, including measuring and recording of temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respiration and bowel/bladder regiments. 

4 Weighing and measuring residents.

5 Performing restorative procedures and assisting with rehabilitative procedures.

6 Assist dietary staff in the resident dining room with meal service.

7 Identify food arrangement and components of different types of diets.

8 Assist residents in after-meal care as necessary.

9 Observe, report, and document changes in resident conditions to the Personal Care Coordinator, including changes in levels of function, appetite, alertness, and behavior, and skin breakdowns. Ensure that this information is recorded appropriately in PCC.

10 Operate resident assistive devices, mechanical lifts, wheel chairs, and other similar devices and equipment according to safe procedures and training.

11 Respond to emergency calls placed by residents in independent living apartments or placed by Security staff on behalf of such residents.

12 Present positive endorsement of Elm Terrace Gardens, its mission, programs, policies, procedures, and administration to Elm Terrace Gardens residents, staff, visitors, and other constituencies at all times.

13 Report to work as scheduled.

14 Assist with resident transport to and from activities, hairdresser, on site physician alternate dining arrangements within ETG, and therapy appointments as needed.

15 Be respectful of and courteous to other employees, families and residents. 

 16 If employee completes and passes training required per regulations to administer medications, then can assist residents as needed with medications prescribed for self-administration and complete medications documentation as required. Must comply with proper medication administration procedures including required recertification and observations to remain in good standing as per DHS guidelines Proper diabetic care, including insulin and BS documentation administration, training and testing annually

Resident Care Functions - Physical & Sensory Req

1 Has the ability to sit, walk, reach, bend, lift, grasp, push, pull, and has fine hand coordination.

2 Has the ability to distinguish smells, tastes, and temperatures.

3 Ability to see and hear adequately to observe changes in resident conditions.

4 Ability to come into close proximity of residents.

5 Ability to hear and respond to call bells, alarms, and signals.

6 Has the ability to read and write English, use telephone, copier, fax machine and computer . 

7 Has the ability to communicate with staff and residents.

8 Has the ability to remain calm under stress.

Requirements

Qualifications

1 Must be at 18 years of age and completed high school or obtained the 

Equivalent of a high school education; or be a C.N.A in good standing and maintain as long as employed by Elm Terrace Gardens. Must be able to take and pass DHS test.

2 One to three years previous experience in a licensed personal care facility preferred.

3 In accordance with Personal Care Home Licensing Regulations must be certified or capable 

of obtaining certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, first aid, and Heimlich maneuver, and maintain such certifications as long as employed by ETG. 

4 Must possess the ability to speak to and be understood by residents and staff in English, and 

 demonstrate the ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions in English.

5 In accordance with Personal Care Home Licensing Regulation, must be of good moral character

and must be free from a medical condition, including drug or alcohol addiction, that would limit 

the direct care staff from providing necessary personal care services with reasonable skill and 

safety.

6 Must demonstrate the ability to work with minimum supervision

7 Must possess an agreeable and helpful attitude toward senior adults.
