Position Title: Project Manager

Position Overview:

Minimum 30 - 50 hours per week. Hours will be scheduled during regular business hours (Monday through Friday between 6:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.) may include some weekends, evenings, and travel.

A successful project manager will oversee projects, coordinate projects, delivering quality output, meeting customer expectations, managing to scope, delivering on time, and delivering within budget.

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

· Must always uphold high standard of quality work.

· Ability to exercise care and sensitivity in completing projects in a timely manner.

· Ability to organize and prioritize various projects and meet deadlines.

  • Must be committed to customer service and generate quality work.
  • Must consistently report to work on time, work well with other employees to accomplish a common goal, and maintain a safe work environment.
  • A proven track record of delivering safe projects on schedule and within budget while making the client happy.
  • Must be able to create a materials list utilizing pre job planning.
  • Must be able to efficiently work with the field.
  • Must be able to identify issues that may arise that would prevent meeting a deadline or client expectations.
  • Must use problem solving skills for acceptable solutions in completing projects on time and within the clients’ expectations.
  • Develops project plans and deliverables, directs all project phases.
  • Participates in or develops mechanisms for establishing, monitoring and integrating project elements, product configuration and communications concerning change management processes and decisions.
  • Coordinates the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project and team, finance, planning, scheduling and site management.
  • Negotiates with vendors on project material purchasing.
  • Transitions projects to from pre-project stage to ongoing project stage, all the way through final close out of project
  • Performs project close-out and documents lessons learned.
  • Provides reports, project status and change information to project team per established processes and communicates plan changes and recovery plans to others.
  • Assists in the development and update of transition plans and schedules.
  • Researches and provides technical information used to develop and maintain maintenance documentation.
  • Understands and applies job practices, techniques, standards, principles, theories, and concepts used to develop maintenance documentation utilizing electrical data.
  • Interacts with field personnel, office staff, and clients.
  • Evaluates, coordinates, and implements project changes (e.g., schedule changes and associated preplanning, field data, customer requests, changes etc.) in support of customer requirements and overall project objectives.
  • Defines plan elements and performs searches of internal/external information for applicable project information.
  • Can document and communicate pertinent information to others.
  • Gathers information from field project team regarding progress, concerns and/or issues (e.g., cost, schedule, deliverables) to produce periodic reports, charts, schedules, etc., per established processes and formats.
  • Identifies assigns and tracks action items as they occur throughout project.
  • Coordinates project meeting activity and status reporting for recurring project process and progress documentation
  • Communicates with field project team to define sequence, document and establish project activity details.
  • Performs assigned project tasks and deliverables that meet identified project requirements.
  • Gathers, compiles and reports information to designated parties regarding assigned project deliverables.
  • Provides concise project status, progress and change information from the assigned elements to the project team.
  • Effectively communicates the perspectives of the project team concerning any workarounds, recovery plans, work scope changes, etc
  • Assists in the development/update of transition plan and schedule, which may include time-phased release of project resources and archival of appropriate project documentation.
  • Performs lessons learned analyses by analyzing written and verbal communications and presents results to project lead.
  • Compiles corrective actions for integration into future project plans.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, CAD, MS Project, Fleetmatics Works, and other project software
  • Must be able to follow blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans.
  • Must be able to read a wire diagram.
  • Must have the ability to walk a job site and determine materials required for installation with a simple scope provided.
  • Must be able to estimate installation time for a of scope of work.
  • Must be able to read and understand electrical drawings.
  • Must be able to teach and train.
  • Must have an understanding of current electrical code.
  • Obtain all required permits for projects.
  • Compile a project close out package to present to the client during final sign off of project.
  • Close out package will include O&M’s submittals, permits, red lined drawings, and other documentation for project.

Physical Demands:

  • Job may require going to job sites in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain, snow.
  • Able to work 8 -10 hours per day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required and night shifts.
  • Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities (Porta-Johns).
  • Must wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses at all times), respirator when required.
  • Must have the ability to listen, speak, and communicate in English.

Safety Requirements:

  • Must wear a hard hat, safety vest and safety glasses at all times while on the job site.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator when required.
  • Must wear OHSA approved boot length pants and EMS shirt (shirt provided by EMS) when at job sites.

· Must be able to become OSHA 30 certified.

  • Must be able to become HAZWOPER certified.

Communicating and Reporting:

  • Monitoring job costing, quality reporting, and productivity
  • Coordinating subcontractors, materials and equipment with field
  • Compiling field administration: timesheets, purchases, and the job daily reports
  • Organizing and coordinating subcontractor activities
  • Implementing and monitoring the project plan to the clients’ expectations
  • Communicating the workflow of the project to avoid unnecessary overtime
  • Communicating with vendors on the flow of ordering and delivering of material
  • Provide information by answering questions and requests from all EMS office staff, vendors, subcontractors, and clients.

· Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Communicate and coordinate in a friendly and courteous manner with all involved.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Coordinating and preparation of daily reports
  • Must have the ability to listen, speak, and communicate in English.

Authority:

· Must always uphold high standard of quality work.

· Ability to make material purchases.

· Ability to make purchases on company issued credit card.

· Must follow the EMS purchasing policies detailed out in the worksite manual.

· Authority to send an employee home.

· Ability to make project schedule changes.

Equipment and Material:

  • Maintain project material by anticipating needed material to maintain workflow.
  • Determining material required on a daily basics then, placing and expediting orders with vendors for materials.
  • Verifying with field receipt of correct materials ordered at time of delivery from vendor to job site.
  • Assure that all company property and material in secure and locked up at each field site.

Certification and Educational Requirements:

· Must be current with the state education requirements.

· Must be familiar with current National Electric Code

  • Excellent working knowledge of the Building Codes.
  • Must be able to read and understand electrical drawings.

Previous Experience:

· Must have a minimum of 10 years of experience working in the industrial electrical industry.

· Must have experience coordinating and scheduling projects.

· Must have experience with ordering material for projects.

Other Requirements:

· Must be 18 years or older.

  • Ability to pass pre-employment background check, physical, and a 5-panel drug test screen as a condition of employment.
  • Must pass background check including past employment and references.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, good driving record (to drive a company vehicle).
  • Be willing to travel for work.

· Be willing to work at multiple job site locations.

· Must provide customer service.
