EL DORADO SEEKS A DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS OPERATIONS

Acclaimed architecture and urban design firm working nationally on diverse, award-winning projects, El Dorado, seeks a poised and highly experienced Director of Business Operations. This position is based in Kansas City and oversees the firm’s offices there and in Portland, Oregon, as well as satellite operations and design work across the United States and abroad. In addition to a desirable location in Kansas City’s vibrant Crossroads Arts District, the right candidate will earn a competitive salary and incentives along with full benefits.

As a leading professional services firm, El Dorado maintains and adopts effective operating procedures across the company to support design excellence. Your expertise in managing high-level financial and HR functions, administering contracts, and handling invoicing matters will contribute to your leadership role in our growing and innovative practice. Other key operational responsibilities include:

Contributing to an environment of excellence, care and growth.

Defining, implementing, and revising operational policies and guidelines for the

organization.

Developing and rolling out staff evaluation processes.

Liaising with El Dorado’s Partners and Leadership to develop financial plans and ensure company-wide operational compliance.

Tracking revenue margins and conducting budget reviews to maximize profitability.

Overseeing and coordinating firm-wide financial operations for efficiency and proper coordination with firm managers with fiduciary responsibilities.

Reviewing firm-wide financial operations to ensuring effectiveness and adherence to

policies established by the Partners and Leadership.

Directing the firm’s activities in treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, real estate, benefit programs, and insurance.

Managing HR functions, Administrative Staff, as well as Budget, Audit, and Financial Reporting.

Supporting the Partners and El Dorado’s continued success through excellence in financial operations.

Bringing financial leadership, vision, and direction to managers responsible for financial and other operational activities at El Dorado.

The Director of Business Operations develops and maintains systems and procedures to support effective project implementation. Key project-related responsibilities include:

Reviewing proposals for new business opportunities.

Creating project worksheets and reviews for feedback to Partners and Leadership.

Preparing consultant and subcontractor agreements.

Managing and approving consultant and subcontractor invoices, in coordination with

Project Managers.

Handling client invoicing and generating amendments as required.

Driving and managing improvement and creativity through your operational leadership.
