Job Description – HOSTESS/HOST

Greet guests in a courteous, helpful, and prompt manner. Responsible for running the host station, including seating guests, maintaining the floor chart, fairly distributing guests according to server rotation/ availability, maintaining the wait list, taking reservations and phone orders, assist with busing and resetting tables, and monitoring pace of service. Salary is $12/hr. Tips. Current host staff is averaging about $20/hr.

Responsibilities and Duties

Performance Standards:

• Follows all company polices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and the “General Policies and Procedures” section of the Host / Hostess Training Manual
• Maintains a positive attendance record by reporting to work for assigned shifts 10 minutes prior to scheduled time, switching and finding replacements for no more than 5% of scheduled shifts, following company time off and illness procedures, and having a 0% No call/no show record
• Follows all sanitation and safety standards set forth by the company; maintains a score of 90% or better on all sanitation and safety audits
• Meets all uniform, appearance, and grooming standards as specified in the Employee Handbook and the Host / Hostess Training Manual
• Maintains our guest service philosophy by following guest service standards
• Knows all menu items offered at the restaurant. Accurately explains specials to guest. If asked, accurately answers menu items concerning preparation method, ingredients, portion size, and side items accompanying the dish. If asked, specifies substitutions for items on menu
• Observes table numbering procedures and properly assigns sections 100% of the time
• Conducts a first greet with guests within 30 seconds of guests entering the restaurant
• Legibly completes phone-in or take-out guest checks and accurately enters orders into POS system following company procedures with 100% accuracy
• Picks up orders and completes take-out preparation correctly as specified by take-out procedures
• Follows the alcohol serving procedures in regard to beverage service standards, awareness standards, and government regulations with 100% accuracy
• Maintains a good team environment by assisting other team members with their station duties and side work when there is a need and/or when available
• Maintains a wait list when immediate seating is limited
• Communicates reservations for large parties to management and kitchen staff to ensure readiness 100% of time
