Empower a Young Man with Autism in Discovering the Marvels of the World!
Looking for a CREATIVE and COMPASSIONATE ABA Therapist interested in incidental teaching and student led teaching to work with a young man with autism living at home with his family. The goal of the work is caring for his well-being, showing him the wonders of our world using natural opportunities, increasing his curiosity, communication skills and level of independence in life skills.
Responsibilities:
- Engage in activities/listening/conversation.
- Teach functional communication and adult living skills. (Exercise, walks, books, etc.)
- General Supervision.
- Basic food and material preparations.
- Ensure safety, health, and a clean-living environment.
Qualifications:
- Affectionate.
- Ability to be playful and engaging.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
- Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and interest to learn.
- Reliable and Responsible
- Advanced candidate would be self-initiating and demonstrate good judgement.
- Advanced candidate would be able to spend time with the autistic individual in the community, after an initial period of getting to know him.
Paid training will be provided.
Requirements:
- The employee must be willing to have a background check and drug screen done.
- Must have a valid driver's license and Reliable car for transportation.
Schedule:
- Must be willing to work at least one of the weekend days (8am-9pm) or Friday afternoon.
- Session length 4 hours or longer.
- At least 2 sessions per week
- Weekday afternoons (most ideal Mondays and Fridays)
- Monday from 1:00 PM and on
- Friday from 3:30 PM and on
Job Type: Part-time (potential to Full Time, if desired)
Salary: From $25.00 per hour with possible increase for the extra qualified candidate.
Education:
- High school or equivalent (Required)
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field and/or Certified Behavior Technician (Ideal)
Experience:
- Developmental disabilities: 1 year (Required)
- Work experience in an ABA based school (Ideal) License/Certification:
- Driver's License (Required) Work Location: In person. Berkeley Heights, NJ
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 8 – 21 per week
