Educational Media Foundation - K-LOVE & Air1 is Hiring a Director People Operations Near Franklin, TN

Overview

The Director People Operations leads the design, implementation, and administration of operational processes used to deliver Human Resources (HR) programs and projects. Collaborates with stakeholders to provide consultation, process design, and project management of HR program implementations and initiatives like compensation, benefits, performance management, or training. Develops scalable methodologies and tools to optimize HR operations and streamline core processes like onboarding, hiring, terminations, retirements, timekeeping, and others that make up the employment life cycle. Oversees employee data management processes to ensure that data is secure and maintained consistent with company policies and privacy regulations and that required reporting and filings are delivered. Evaluates, selects, and manages HR process outsourcing vendors and contracts.

Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Proactively influence our culture, leading by example in demonstrating collaboration, empowerment, innovation, creativity, and service, while being a faithful witness on and off the job of EMF’s mission to create compelling media that inspires and encourages our listeners to have a meaningful relationship with Christ.
  • As a member of leadership, contribute to long term planning and vision implementation through identification of strategic Human Resources initiatives, collaboration, prioritization, communication, and evaluation of results, while preserving EMF’s reputation for integrity and excellence.
  • Engage Chief People Officer and Senior HRMP on Human Resources issues, trends, and proposals for strategic initiatives and delivery.

Strategic Planning

  • Collaborate closely with other departments such as Legal, Finance, and other departments.
  • Assist with Strategic planning and implementation for HR and other people operations, with a focus on strategic goals, timelines, budgets, communication, results tracking, and celebration.
  • Assess HR performance against both annual goals and plans. Provide strategic recommendations based on operational analysis, research, and projections, cost identification and allocation, and resource analysis. Ensure tools and systems are in place to provide critical operational and project information to the Chief People Officer and others and make actionable recommendations on both strategic goals and operational constraints.
  • Provide leadership for the HR/People Ops function and team, ensuring ministry-wide collaboration and communication, facilitating appropriate resolution of issues, and competing priorities. Ensure alignment of initiatives with Ministry objectives.

Director of HR Operations Role Specific

  • Develop and administer HR strategies that meet organizational needs and are responsible for overall retention, engagement, compensation planning, benefits, and performance management of employees plus administration of the HRIS system.
  • Ensure that HR procedures and practices comply with Federal, State, Local, and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with the Chief People Officer to manage staffing-related activities, such as retention, promotions, performance evaluation, and compensation determination.
  • Build, develop, and retain an efficient, high-performing HR/People Operations team.
  • Assume ownership and provide oversight for all Human Resources Operations services including employee relations, performance management, compensation programs, total rewards (benefits), and training and development. Train management and staff during the process of issue resolution, taking advantage of learning opportunities.
  • Partner with the HR team as needed on Leave of Absences, Workers Compensation, Disability, Employment Verifications, EEO-1 reporting, relocations, and other related projects.
  • Manage and develop systems for legal compliance, including leave programs, workers compensation, disability, harassment, etc.
  • Accountable for success of New Hire Orientation for Team Members, Leaders, and/or temporary staff.
  • Define effective KPIs. Develop a suite of analytics and tooling that help measure the efficacy of our recruitment operations and programs. Drive process and workflow enhancements that encourage excellence in HR.
  • Ensure a high level of customer service to staff regarding HR initiatives and programs. Set expectations and train HR team on HR policies, procedures, and standards. Regularly assist management and staff with HR related questions or concerns – reaching positive resolutions.
  • Manage personnel file workflow and governance with support from the compliance officer.
  • Lead efforts to enhance retention and the positive employment experience of our teams through talent assessments, career development, performance management and feedback loops.
  • Partner with the Chief People Officer to develop and maintain a People and Culture strategy that stewards the growth and development of Team Leaders and Team Members.
  • Actively partner with leadership to ensure employees exemplify our listeners and target audiences.

Talent and Leadership Development

  • Provide strategic leadership, mentoring and developing a highly competent and responsive HR/People Ops team, ensuring alignment of goals and ministry initiatives with EMF’s mission. Foster a learning environment where training, risk management, operational best practices, and Biblical values go hand in hand with creative and entrepreneurial solution that best fulfill the ministry’s mission.
  • Utilize the EMF Leadership Framework in setting professional goals for self and direct reports. Actively seek and partake in training & education to deepen Biblical understanding, media/business acumen, leadership knowledge, interpersonal awareness, and communication skills.

Other

  • Demonstrate the qualities of a life-time learner in the disciplines relevant to effectively lead and perform job duties by taking personal responsibility for professional development and training.
  • Actively participate and contribute to ministry wide initiatives and projects like Pledge Drives (daily shifts), Daily Prayer (one time per day), All Team Meetings, All Team Celebrations – and including activities such as our annual banquet, Food and Fun Day, Summits (Remote Teams), Service Projects and others as announced. These are all key components of the ministry, our culture and more fun to do together!
  • Support and contribute to ministry endeavors by following employment policies and practices and supporting a safe and healthy work environment. Specifically, follow EMF’s Injury Prevention and Safety program, support and maintain safety standards, and participate in safety training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or human resources, or equivalent experience.
  • HR or revelant certification(s) preferred.

Experience and Expertise

Minimum of 10 plus years in Human Resources (ministry related environment desired).

  • Minimum of 5 years in leadership experience or experience leading teams preferred.
  • Experience in management development, succession planning, employee engagement, and performance management.
  • Development of training and experiences (leadership, skills, creativity, team building) with clear links to measurable outcomes.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word), ADP and iCIMS recruiting platform experience preferred.
  • Skill in using social media platforms for sourcing and/or recruitment.
  • Deep knowledge of Federal, State and Local employment laws.
  • Knowledge of EEOC policies and benefit programs.
  • Experience with strategic planning and implementation.
  • Experience leading and managing professional staff; accomplishing goals through the work of others.
  • Experience managing and establishing HRIS preferred.
  • Experience within a multi-state environment and 500 staff desired (ministry environment preferred)
  • High degree of initiative; strong problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated experience working with confidential information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Strong attention to detail with solid organization skills.
  • Possess excellent follow-through and multi-tasking ability.
  • Exhibits versatility and flexibility. Regularly adapts to change while maintaining a positive attitude and high productivity.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop sincere business/ministry relationships.
  • A collaborative and flexible style, with strong service mentality; demonstrated team player.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the HR profession with a passion for our mission and values.
