This role involves a unique combination of sales and administrative tasks, operating within a seasonal framework that sees reduced hours in winter and heightened activity in spring, summer, and fall.

Position Summary

The Sales Associate will manage the walk-in customer sales process, ensuring a smooth experience through active engagement and recommendations. This role will include objective handling, upselling, accurate transaction facilitation, and monitoring transactions from sale to delivery for efficient order fulfillment. Additionally, the Sales Associate will maintain current product inventory knowledge, collaborate with cross functional team members, execute precise administrative tasks, and support operations while adhering to Arbor Valley's policies and demonstrate behaviors that reflect the established fundamentals and embrace the company's culture.

Essential Functions

• Manage the sales process for walk in customers, ensuring a seamless and positive experience.

  • Customer Engagement. Assess customer needs and preferences through active listening.

  • Product knowledge. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of our products, providing detailed information to customers.

  • Recommendations. Tailor product recommendations based on customer requirements and preferences.

  • Objection Handling. Address customer objections or concerns with effective solutions and alternative options.

  • Upselling/Cross Selling. Identify opportunities for upselling/cross selling products.

  • Facilitate Transaction(s). Perform transaction process, ensuring accuracy in pricing, payment, and necessary documentation.

  • Monitor Transaction(s) from Sale to Delivery. Monitor logistics to ensure timely and efficient order fulfillment.

  • Follow Up. Seek feedback on customer satisfaction and promote future sales opportunities.

• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of our products. Regularly inspect inventory to ensure current knowledge of product details, conditions, etc.

• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, fostering timely and transparent communication to streamline operations and achieve organizational objectives.

• Execute a diverse range of administrative tasks with precision and efficiency, contributing to the smooth operation and organizational effectiveness.

• Provide support to the operations team as necessary, fostering a collaborative and team-oriented mindset.

  • Assist in inventory counts, tagging, plant health care, plant loading/receiving, etc.

• Adhere to Arbor Valley’s policies and procedures.

• Demonstrate behaviors that align seamlessly with Arbor Valley’s foundational fundamentals and culture.

• Engage in job rotation duties during the off season.

• Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

At times, this job may be exposed in an outdoor nursery and greenhouse environments. Routinely exposed to various weather conditions. Tasks are performed in an office setting and outdoor environment.

Physical Demands

Prolonged periods of standing, bending, walking, lifting, and moving. Frequent motions include grasping, seeing, and other repetitive movements. Must be able to lift, carry, minimum up to 50 pounds, more with assistance. Must have physical stamina and the ability to perform physical demands in varying weather conditions.

Education and Experience

• 2 years of administration experience

• 1 years of Sales Experience

• 3 years of Customer Service Experience
